About IDES:

Caterpillar’s Integrated Drivetrain Energy Solutions (IDES) Division will focus on delivering advanced electrified power train, zero-emissions products/technologies, and the solutions and services associated with these technologies. Focus areas include batteries, fuel cells, motors, inverters, micro grid controllers, charging, energy storage systems, lifecycle solutions/services and integration of components for ePowertrain solutions across industries.

Job Summary:

As an Engineering Project Lead, you will drive the successful planning, execution, and delivery of Battery Management System (BMS) projects supporting Caterpillar's electrification initiatives. You will work across engineering disciplines to align technical development, resources, schedules, and business objectives while ensuring successful product development and implementation.

What You Will Do

• Lead cross-functional teams in the development and delivery of advanced Battery Management System solutions.
• Develop and maintain project plans, schedules, budgets, and resource forecasts to ensure successful execution.
• Coordinate activities across hardware, software, systems, validation, and application engineering teams.
• Identify and manage project risks, dependencies, and critical issues while driving timely resolution.
• Facilitate communication and alignment among engineering teams, suppliers, business partners, and leadership.
• Support product development activities from concept through production implementation.
• Drive strategic planning initiatives that align engineering priorities with organizational objectives.
• Monitor project performance and provide regular status updates to stakeholders and leadership teams.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives that enhance product quality, development efficiency, and project execution.

What You Will Have

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering required
• Technical Excellence: Extensive experience and knowledge of a given technology and various application methods; ability to develop and provide solutions to significant technical challenges.
• Project Management: Expert knowledge of effective project management strategies and tactics; ability to plan, organize, monitor, and control projects, ensuring efficient utilization of technical and administrative resources to achieve project objectives. Strong program and project management skills with demonstrated experience leading complex technical initiatives. Proven ability to develop and execute tactical and strategic plans.
• Team Management: Extensive experience and knowledge of effective team building techniques; ability to form and manage effective teams. Ability to influence and lead teams without direct authority.
• Requirements Analysis: Extensive experience and knowledge of tools, methods, and techniques of requirement analysis; ability to elicit, analyze and record required business functionality and non-functionality requirements to ensure the success of a system or software development project.
• Troubleshooting Technical Problems: Extensive experience and knowledge of troubleshooting approaches, tools and techniques; ability to anticipate, detect and resolve technical problems in a manufacturing or product management environment.

Top Candidates Will Also Have:

• Experience leading development projects involving electronic systems, embedded controls, or electrification technologies.
• Knowledge of Battery Management Systems (BMS), battery technologies, and electrical power systems.
• Previous experience serving as an NPI, L3, or cross-functional technical team lead.
• Experience with APQP, and New Product Introduction (NPI),
• Familiarity with systems engineering principles, requirements management, and validation processes.
• Experience managing product development budgets, resource planning, and project financials.

Additional Information:

• This position is located in Mossville, IL and requires 5 day a week on-site availability

• Domestic Relocation is available for this role

• Visa Sponsorship is not available or this role

• 15% or less travel is expected

Summary Pay Range:
