Role Summary

The Prime Digital Consultant shapes and leads the digital retail customer experience strategy for Caterpillar’s Building Construction Products (BCP) division. In this role, you will work cross-functionally to understand needs, identify opportunities, and support solutions that create a more seamless and positive digital experience throughout the online customer retail journey.

What You Will Do (Job Duties):

  • Develops, maintains, and communicates the digital retail strategy, while ensuring alignment to the BCP division’s priorities and growth objectives. Main areas of focus include Online Machine Inventory and Build & Price experiences.

  • Documents capabilities, experiential and business requirements in conjunction with Cat Digital team to support feature creation supporting the digital retail experience.

  • Utilizes customer engagement data to understand the effectiveness of strategy implementation, while being able to pivot to address new opportunities as they arise.

  • Drives cross-functional stakeholder alignment and provides communications regarding project goals and the overall roadmap execution.

  • Analyzes market trends, user behavior, competitive analysis, customer needs, and product performance to inform roadmap decisions and measure success.

  • Monitors and reviews effectiveness of digital product capabilities and new-feature launches and recommends elements to scale at a regional or global level.

  • Strategic planning: Influences development, communication, and execution of the BCP division’s digital strategy, initiative roadmap.

  • Strategic thinking: Maintains a big-picture view of opportunities and competitive dynamics across the BCP division’s digital retail experience.

  • Relationship Management: Ability to build trust, manage expectations, and maintain productive working relationships with direct team members and internal partners.

  • Influencing: Ability to listen actively, develop persuasive recommendations, and gain alignment across teams without relying on direct authority.

Top Candidates Will Also Have

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Engineering, Information Systems, Digital Commerce, Product Management, or related field.

  • 5+ years of experience in digital product management, customer experience, e-commerce, digital marketing, or a related business transformation role.

  • Experience translating customer, business, and technical requirements into digital product capabilities and feature roadmaps.

  • Demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally with business stakeholders, software development teams, UX designers, and product owners.

  • Strong analytical skills with experience leveraging customer insights, behavioral data, market trends, and performance metrics to drive decisions.

  • Experience managing or influencing digital product initiatives across multiple stakeholder groups.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including requirements documentation and executive-level presentations.

  • Proven ability to prioritize competing demands and operate effectively in a fast-paced, matrixed environment.

Additional Information

  • The position is located in Cary, North Carolina

  • Expected travel in this role is 20% domestic and international

  • Caterpillar requires employees to work onsite 5 days a week when not traveling

Summary Pay Range:

$128,470.00 - $192,710.00

Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
