ROLE DEFINITION

The Project Coordinator creates, executes, maintains, and monitors project plans for New Product Introduction (NPI) and strategic plant projects. The role controls timelines, facilitates project governance routines, aligns plans with the organization’s project platforms, and escalates deviations when execution does not follow the agreed plan. The position contributes to the business by providing structured planning, disciplined follow-up, and timely stakeholder communication. It serves as the central coordination point for project schedules, status updates, risks, actions, and escalation needs across cross-functional teams.

The role covers plant-level NPI and strategic projects and represents the projects in follow-up, stakeholder, communication, and escalation meetings.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Create and execute a project plan for each assigned NPI and strategic plant project.
  • Maintain project timelines, milestones, deliverables, dependencies, and action ownership in Microsoft Project and applicable internal platforms.
  • Lead recurring project follow-up meetings and coordinate stakeholder, communication, and escalation sessions.
  • Monitor project progress against the approved plan and identify schedule deviations, risks, constraints, and unresolved actions.
  • Escalate issues when project execution does not align with the agreed plan and support timely resolution by the appropriate stakeholders.
  • Communicate installation status, project updates, decisions, and risks to stakeholders and product owners.
  • Coordinate cross-functional team inputs to keep project plans current, accurate, and aligned across participating functions.
  • Represent assigned projects by maintaining end-to-end visibility and control of project timelines and commitments.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical and Administrative Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field.

English

  • Intermediate-advanced English proficiency required for project and stakeholder communication.

Skill requirements

Project Management

  • Knowledge of project management practices; related courses or certifications are valued.
  • The role leads through coordination, facilitation, communication, and influence across functions. Direct people management is not identified as a requirement. Previous supervision of administrative personnel is considered a differentiator.

Planning and Organizing

  • Creating, executing, updating, and controlling project plans and schedules.
  • Experience working with Microsoft Project.
  • Familiarity with Power Apps.
  • Tracking milestones, actions, dependencies, risks, and deviations.
  • Using Microsoft Project for project planning and follow-up.
  • Supporting NPI or strategic projects in a plant or manufacturing environment.

Effective Communications

  • Communicates project status, risks, actions, and decisions in a concise manner.
  • Adapts messages for project teams, stakeholders, and product owners.
  • Facilitates meetings with clear objectives, actions, owners, and due dates.
  • Raises schedule and execution concerns promptly through appropriate channels.
  • Maintains focus on facts, commitments, and required decisions.
  • Uses English effectively in project and stakeholder interactions.

Managing Multiple Priorities

  • Coordinating cross-functional project teams.
  • Facilitating follow-up, stakeholder, communication, and escalation meetings.
  • Communicating project and installation status to stakeholders and product owners.
  • Driving action follow-up and escalating issues that do not progress according to plan.

TOP CANDIDATE PROFILE

  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt.
  • Project management certification or formal project management coursework.
  • Master’s degree, MBA, or graduate program related to project management.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Work location: Santa Catarina, Nuevo Leon, Mexico.

Work schedule: Monday through Friday (7am-4pm).

Travel: Up to 10%, domestic or international, based on business needs.
