Caterpillar’s FlexWork program is a flexible work option for production employees who want more choice in when they work. Through FlexWork, employees select available shifts posted in a scheduling app, giving them the ability to choose hours that fit their schedule while supporting Caterpillar’s production needs. These roles are hired directly by Caterpillar, not through an agency.
We are looking for experienced Material Handlers to support production at Caterpillar Paving, Brooklyn Park. This role is intended for individuals who already have strong material handling skills and can successfully operate powered industrial trucks with limited practice or preparation.
This is a part-time temporary Caterpillar material handling role ideal for skilled material handlers who want flexible work, additional income, or the opportunity to support meaningful manufacturing work without committing to a traditional full-time schedule.

What you will do:
As a FlexWork Material Handler, your primary responsibility will be to support Caterpillar production by safely delivering material to appropriate locations ensuring right part, right place, right time, in the right quantity and quality using various material handling equipment including counterbalance, reach truck, picker, tug and turret machines. This may include:
Ordering, picking, kitting, receiving, loading, unloading, and putting away material.
Preparing and ensuring safe transport of material.
Use Caterpillar systems and tools to accurately document material movement and transactions.
Identify, document, communicate and correct problems related to material movement, report discrepancies, and recommend solutions.
Provide support for material handling initiatives, projects, and daily activities.
Work with limited supervision
Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work area.
Follow all safety requirements, quality standards, and facility expectations.
Our work environment requires:
Limited exposure to welding fumes and noise levels of 85db or greater
Operation of overhead cranes, jib cranes and hoists
Exposure to frequently changing temperatures
Exposure to magnets that may impact medical devices
Work in awkward positions, including forward reach, lateral reach, squat, overhead reaching, twisting, and forward head and rotation of neck
Work in tight spaces
Use of hand tools including band cutters and box cutters
Required personal protective equipment: hearing protection, safety glasses, steel toed/metatarsal foot gear, bump camps and protective material handling equipment including safety/fall harness
What you will have:
3 months of experience in a logistics or warehouse environment
Ability to read and follow work instructions, safety procedures, and quality standards.
Comfortable working in a hands-on manufacturing or production environment.
Ability to work effectively with a team and communicate clearly on the production floor.
Ability to work part-time hours and select available shifts through the FlexWork scheduling process.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience operating powered industrial equipment including forklifts, reach truck, order picker, or counterbalance.
Experience with inventory or material movement, transactions, systems and tools.
Previous experience in heavy equipment, structural fabrication, manufacturing, or industrial production.
Experience working in a safety-focused, fast-paced, shift-based, or team-oriented environment.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to sit or stand for prolonged periods of time
Ability to perform repetitive operations
Ability to lift up to 35 lbs.
Ability to work at multiple heights

Schedule Details:
Expected Hours: 20-32 hours per week
Expected Days: Sunday 10:00pm – Saturday 2:00pm
Expected Shifts: 4-hour shifts
Monday-Friday: 6:00am-10:00am, 10:00am-2:00pm, 2:00pm-6:00pm, 6:00pm-10:00pm, 10:00pm, 2:00am, 2:00am-6:00am
Saturday: 2:00am-6:00am, 6:00am-10:00am, 10:00am-2:00pm
