About IDES:

Caterpillar’s Integrated Drivetrain Energy Solutions (IDES) Division will focus on delivering advanced electrified power train, zero-emissions products/technologies, and the solutions and services associated with these technologies. Focus areas include batteries, fuel cells, motors, inverters, micro grid controllers, charging, energy storage systems, lifecycle solutions/services and integration of components for ePowertrain solutions across industries.

Job Summary

As a Senior Engineer – Electrification Site Applications & Integration, you will develop, integrate, validate, and deploy customer-focused electrification solutions for commercial, industrial, and energy applications. You will translate customer requirements into deployable system solutions by integrating energy storage, charging infrastructure, distributed energy resources, controls, communications, and monitoring systems.

Working across multidisciplinary teams, you will ensure solutions meet performance, safety, reliability, and operational objectives while supporting projects from concept through commissioning and field deployment.

Additional Information

  • This position is located in Mossville, IL.
  • Domestic travel is 15% up to 25% & minimal international travel is required.
  • Domestic relocation assistance is offered for this position.

  • This position is 5 days on-site.

What You Will Do

  • Develop site electrification solutions including battery energy storage systems (BESS), charging infrastructure, hybrid energy systems, and microgrids.
  • Translate customer and site requirements into technical specifications, system architectures, equipment selections, and interface definitions.
  • Lead integration activities across electrical, controls, software, communications, and monitoring systems.
  • Support system validation, testing, commissioning, troubleshooting, and performance optimization.
  • Perform technical analysis and root-cause investigations to resolve complex integration and operational issues.
  • Collaborate with engineering, product, manufacturing, service, suppliers, and customers to deliver successful site solutions.
  • Prepare and maintain engineering documentation, test plans, validation reports, and technical recommendations.
  • Monitor emerging electrification, energy storage, and site infrastructure technologies and recommend improvements to solution offerings.

Computer-Aided Design & Engineering: Extensive experience and knowledge of tools and techniques of specialized graphics programs; ability to produce, analyze, simulate and test product design drafts.

  • Coaches others on orthographic, isometric and axonometric projections.

  • Performs manipulations on design objects, such as changing projections and managing drawing layers.

Degree Requirement

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related engineering discipline.

Top Candidates Will Have

  • Experience with BESS, microgrids, EV charging systems, renewable integration, or distributed energy resources.
  • Understanding of utility interconnection, power distribution, and system protection principles.
  • Knowledge of PLC, SCADA, EMS, EPMS, industrial controls, or communications networks.
  • Familiarity with commissioning, validation, and field deployment activities.
  • Experience working directly with customers, suppliers, and field teams.

Summary Pay Range:

$112,710.00 - $169,060.00
