Caterpillar is seeking a Materials Requirements Planning Manager in Sanford, NC. In this role, you will plan and direct the material planning and material logistics functions to meet the facility plan objectives and satisfy customer needs.

What you can look forward to in this role:

  • Interfaces with Operations, Business Resources, Global Purchasing Suppliers, Logistics, Engineering and worldwide Cat facilities.
  • Plans, initiates, and maintains a material procurement process that establishes and achieves the least total cost, best quality and timely delivery for facility material purchases from internal/external suppliers.
  • Manage inventory and record accuracy through monitoring shortage / surplus exception, supplier follow ups, negative on-hands and daily delivery performance.
  • Develops and directs internal/external material flow planning. Implements efficient supplier and interplant material supply plans.
  • Meets production and parts requirements while optimizing inventory levels, lot sizing, lead times, packaging, and transportation costs.
  • Ensure that the environment of the inventory stockroom is in line with requirements for each product.
  • Manage staffing, development, and performance management of materials management team members.
  • Maintaining optimal inventory levels. Performing inventory analysis and making recommendations for stock levels.
  • Develop and implement strategies inspiring continuous improvement of material management processes through project planning, driving root cause and corrective action, and system automation.

A successful candidate in this role will showcase their skills in:

  • Inventory Management - MFG: Knowledge of processes and methods of inventory management; ability to effectively manage local or distributed inventories of raw materials, work-in-progress and finished goods.
  • Logistics Management: Knowledge of logistics and management; ability to follow proper processes and run operations for effective and efficient movement of materials and finished products.
  • Supply Chain Management - MFG: Knowledge of functions, principles and techniques used in supply chain management; ability to develop and use, strategies, practices and tools for controlling the logistical processes.
  • Process Improvement: Understanding and insight into evaluating current product quality and production methods and ability to maintains focus on the continuous improvement of processes, products and services.

Top Candidates for this position may also have:

  • 3-5 years of progressive job-related experience in material planning / supply chain within a manufacturing environment
  • A minimum of 2 years in a supervisory role
  • Knowledge and/or experience in material planning / control, purchasing, parts distribution, inventory control, manufacturing engineering, operations and transportation or logistics
  • Bachelor’s degree in a supply chain or logistics discipline
  • Strong knowledge of production scheduling and capacity management
  • Ability to use and troubleshoot onsite MRP systems

Summary Pay Range:

$89,210.00 - $133,810.00

Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
