What will you do?

As a Tier2 DataOps Engineer you will be responsible for advanced operational support, troubleshooting, and stabilization of data pipelines and data platforms. This role acts as a bridge between Tier1 support and engineering (L3) teams, ensuring fast incident resolution, data quality, and system reliability. You will also:

  • Perform deep investigation of incidents escalated from Tier1
  • Analyze logs, data pipelines, APIs, and system integrations to identify root causes
  • Restore service using workarounds or fixes for known/semi-known issues
  • Coordinate P1/P2 incident response, including bridge calls and stakeholder communication
  • Monitor data pipelines, jobs, and system health (alerts, dashboards, logs)
  • Detect anomalies in data flows and ensure data consistency and integrit
  • Perform data validation across systems (ERP, APIs, DBs)
  • Proactively identify risks and performance degradation
  • Execute and continuously improve operational runbooks
  • Collaborate with Data Engineering teams on:
  • Root Cause Analysis (RCA)
  • Permanent fixes (PCA/ICA)
  • You will work with Tier1 (handover, guidance), tier3 / Engineering (escalations, RCA), Product and Data teams (data quality improvements)
  • Support production releases and maintenance activities
  • Validate post-deployment system behavior
  • Ensure monitoring and alerts are properly configured

This position works directly with Slovakia based engineering leadership and Cat Digital in the US.

What You Will Have:

  • Experience in data engineering, with a focus on data pipelines / ETL tools (SnapLogic, DataStage, etc. – or equivalents)
  • Monitoring tools (AppDynamics, Azure Monitor, Grafana, Splunk)
  • Knowledge of SQL and data analysis
  • Significant experience with API integrations and distributed systems
  • Expertise with log analysis and observability
  • Understanding of IT operations, ITSM/ITIL, data governance, metadata management, data quality, and data architecture concepts (ITSM / ServiceNow)
  • Technical Troubleshooting: Knowledge of technical troubleshooting approaches, tools and techniques; ability to anticipate, recognize, and resolve technical issues on software, application or operation.
  • Systems Thinking: Knowledge of the critical interdependencies among individual system elements that help and hinder performance; ability to plan and design solutions that synchronize resources to achieve business results.
  • Effective Communications: Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors.
  • Problem Solving: Knowledge of approaches, tools, techniques for recognizing, anticipating, and resolving organizational, operational or process problems; ability to apply knowledge of problem solving appropriately to diverse situations.
