We have an exciting opportunity at Caterpillar for Communications Specialist. This role operates at the intersection of news, data, and strategy—helping the organization understand what’s happening externally and why it matters to help inform how the enterprise responds. This is a high-visibility role that requires strong judgment, collaboration, speed and attention to detail in a fast-moving environment.

What you will do:

  • Acts as the central hub for media team efforts and priority external initiatives

  • Monitors and synthesizes media coverage into clear and concise reports, briefings and backgrounders

  • Deliver insights on emerging issues, trends and risks, enabling data-driven decision-making

  • Analyze media performance using both quantitative metrics and qualitative judgment

  • Track and report on key KPIs (i.e. reach, sentiment, share of voice)

  • Maintain strong awareness of the media landscape, proactively identifying risks and opportunities

  • Collaborate cross-functionally on proactive storytelling planning

  • Manage multiple priorities simultaneously with strong attention to detail, accuracy and speed

What you will have:

  • Exceptional writing and editing skills; able to distill complex information into sharp, executive-ready formats

  • Strong analytical mindset with the ability to interpret data and translate it into business-relevant insights

  • Deep interest in news, media and how narratives are driven across industries and platforms

  • Experience with media monitoring, analytics or reporting; familiarity with tools such as Cision and PR Newswire is a plus

  • Proven collaborator who can navigate competing priorities and influence across an array of stakeholders

  • High attention to detail with strong organization and time management

  • Experience in corporate communications, media relations, public affairs or related fields

  • Background in journalism, media or newsroom environments is highly valued

  • Experience working in roles requiring rapid synthesis of complex information into clear outputs

Education: Bachelor’s degree in communications and/or equivalent experience

  • The primary location for this position is Irving, TX

  • Sponsorship is not available

  • International and Domestic travel up to 5%

Summary Pay Range:

$97,530.00 - $146,290.00

Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
