Job Summary:
As Senior Manager, Business Development, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and accelerating Caterpillar’s Electrification & Energy Solutions (E&ES) growth journey across North America. This is a highly visible leadership role at the intersection of strategy, market development, customer engagement, and commercial execution, focused on scaling next‑generation electrification and energy technologies.
You will lead the development of winning market strategies, unlock new revenue streams, and build deep customer and partner relationships that position Caterpillar as the partner of choice for zero‑emissions and electrified solutions. This role is ideal for a forward‑thinking commercial leader who thrives in ambiguity, understands complex industrial markets, and is energized by turning bold ideas into scalable business results that help customers build a more sustainable future.
What You Will Do:
Shape and execute North America business development strategy for Electrification & Energy Solutions, translating long‑term growth objectives into actionable market and customer plans.
Identify, evaluate, and prioritize new market opportunities, customer segments, and partnerships that accelerate revenue growth and expand Caterpillar’s E&ES footprint.
Lead customer‑centric commercial engagement, working directly with strategic customers to understand evolving needs, co‑create value propositions, and drive adoption of electrified and zero‑emissions solutions.
Build and manage a high‑performing business development and sales organization, setting clear goals, coaching talent, and aligning resources to deliver profitable growth.
Collaborate cross‑functionally with engineering, product, marketing, dealers, and regional leadership to ensure solutions are market‑ready, competitive, and scalable.
Drive value‑based selling and pricing strategies, ensuring commercial models reflect total customer value, lifecycle benefits, and differentiated solutions.
Use data, market insights, and voice‑of‑customer inputs to inform decisions, track performance, and continuously refine go‑to‑market strategies.
Represent Caterpillar E&ES externally, strengthening executive‑level relationships with customers, partners, and industry stakeholders to influence market direction.
What You Will Have:
Strategic Thinking: Extensive experience and knowledge of the importance of "big picture" thinking and planning; ability to apply organizational acumen and competitiveness to identify and maintain focus on key success factors for the organization.
Customer Focus: Extensive experience and knowledge of the values and practices that align customer needs and satisfaction as primary considerations in all business decisions and ability to leverage that information in creating customized customer solutions.
Relationship Management: Extensive experience and knowledge of relationship management techniques; ability to establish and maintain healthy working relationships with clients, vendors, and peers.
Negotiating: Extensive experience and knowledge of successful negotiation concepts and techniques; ability to negotiate successfully across the organization and with external vendors and clients in a constructive and collaborative manner.
Value Selling: Working knowledge of the principles and practices for selling products, technology and services; ability to provide overall product/service 'value' and to differentiate support offerings that address clearly understood customer needs.
What Will Set You Apart:

Background working with electrification, energy solutions, power systems, or advanced industrial technologies, enabling credible engagement with customers and technical teams.
Track record of success leading complex, consultative sales cycles with enterprise or strategic customers.
Experience navigating cross‑functional, matrixed organizations and influencing outcomes without direct authority.
