Job Title: Business & Trade Media Relations Manager - EAME
Salary: £79,424 + Dependent Upon Experience
Location: Peterborough, UK

The Opportunity
As Caterpillar’s Business & Trade Media Relations Manager – EAME, you will lead strategic media relations activities across Europe, Africa, and the Middle East, driving visibility and engagement with business, trade, and regional media audiences. This role is responsible for developing and executing integrated media strategies that support Caterpillar’s enterprise priorities, strengthen the company’s reputation, and elevate awareness of its products, services, innovations, and business achievements.
Working closely with internal stakeholders, subject matter experts, and senior leaders, you will identify and deliver compelling storytelling opportunities that align with Caterpillar’s business objectives and corporate messaging. Acting as a trusted communications advisor, you will help shape proactive and reactive media strategies, manage media engagement and support visibility across key markets.
The successful candidate will develop and implement strategic communications plans, secure impactful earned media coverage, and build strong relationships with journalists and industry influencers. You will bring expertise in media relations, message development, reputation management, media monitoring and analysis, and the planning and execution of media events, ensuring consistent and effective communication that enhances Caterpillar’s position as an industry leader.
Additional Information
Must be able to travel up to 25% globally.
This role requires 5-day per week on site presence.
What You Will Do
Establishes and maintains trusted relationships with a broad range of business and trade media. Acts as both facilitator and liaison between the media and appropriate internal subject experts and executives in providing editorial content on company's products and services.
Provides counsel and guidance to internal groups in developing press materials and events. This includes planning, logistics and execution of media related special events.
Develops comprehensive media plans based on company goals.
Provides direct guidance to company managers and Executive Office on media relationships and editorial management.
Responsible for selection and management of a variety of outside suppliers including writers, photographers, printers and event facilities providers.
Owns enterprise trade show trade media strategies and oversees execution.
Tracks, analyzes and reports media results across EAME, providing trade and business-related insights and recommendations to improve coverage quality, message pull-through and alignment with enterprise and trade objectives. assists with reporting of all media results across EAME.
Proactive in suggesting new ideas and ways of working to clients to meet goals while also understanding existing processes and their benefits.
Monitors evolving media trends and identifies new opportunities to reach target audiences across business, local and trade media channels.
Develops and maintains relationships with key stakeholders within the enterprise to help uncover and tell proactive stories that support our enterprise narratives, business performance, product innovation, strategy and reputation.
Develop media materials as needed, including media pitches, media statements, FAQs, briefing books, fact sheets, press releases, media advisories and bylined articles.
Responsible for executive preparation for media interviews, conducting 1:1 media training, identifying and anticipating risks, staffing interviews, coaching and providing feedback.
Support high-priority enterprise media initiatives across EAME as needed.
Advise on reputational risk and media implications; assist in tracking and responding to inbound inquiries.
What You Will Have

Effective Communications: Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors.
Influencing: Knowledge of effective influencing tactics and strategies; ability to impact decisions within and outside own organization.
Initiative: Being proactive and committing to action on self-identified job responsibilities and challenges; ability to seek out work and the drive to accomplish goals.
Interpersonal Relationships: Knowledge of the techniques and the ability to work with a variety of individuals and groups in a constructive and collaborative manner.
Copywriting and Editing: Knowledge of copywriting and editing; ability to write, review and edit texts and documents to promote marketing.
Organizational Communications: Knowledge of techniques and media for organizational communication; ability to utilize relevant tools to communicate information about the organization internally and externally.
Desirable:
Extensive experience in communications, marketing or media relations
Strategic thinking, sound judgement and advanced writing skills.
Experience with business media, trade media and executive communications
Knowledge of industries, company, products, and product applications
Understanding of the corporate organization and dealer operations
Experience with relationship building to develop a cooperative working environment with others inside and outside the department
Discretion with sensitive and confidential information
