An exciting and rare career opportunity is open with Caterpillar Resource Industries Group in Rigid Frame Trucks (RFT) Performance and Controls team. Role supports various activities related to data generation on machines and custom data acquisition from field for solving various customer problems. Also, position supports competitive field studies that give rare opportunity to ride Caterpillar as well as competitive machines in real mine site applications.

What You Will Do:

  • Lead and support the development and maintenance of telematics and operator information systems design and development on Rigid Frame Trucks, including Product Link Elite, VIMS, Supercomm, Payload, Tire Monitoring, Haul Road Monitoring, and similar systems.

  • Develop new capabilities, technologies, and advanced features that help resolve business and customer challenges.

  • Develop and maintain configuration files for data acquisition systems and ensure critical data flows back to Caterpillar.

  • Support field studies to resolve customer issues or monitor machine performance.

  • Support site performance and productivity studies.

  • Lead efforts to drive issue resolution by working across the organizational matrix.

  • Support and lead periodic report-outs to customers on various issues.

  • Provide feedback to regional teams, physical availability managers, dealers, and customers on opportunities for operational improvement at sites.

  • Provide feedback on control logic and operational improvements to autonomous teams.

  • Drive alignment across RFT platforms to develop common controls and features that improve R&E efficiency and deliver superior customer and operator experience.

  • Develop machine field risk mitigation/monitoring plans for pilot machines.

  • Initiate and support New Technology Introduction (NTI) programs that influence short- and long-term product strategies.

What Skills You Will Have:

Technical Excellence: Knowledge of a given technology and various application methods; ability to develop and provide solutions to significant technical challenges.

  • Machine and vehicle telematics, control systems, and software experience.

  • Machine and vehicle testing, data acquisition, and analysis experience.

  • Strong systems engineering knowledge, including engine, powertrain, and hydraulics.

Process Management: Knowledge of business process improvement tools and techniques; ability to understand, monitor, update, control, or enhance existing business or work processes. Prior experience leading cross-functional teams in a matrix organization.

Accuracy and Attention to Detail: Understanding the necessity and value of accuracy; ability to complete tasks with high levels of precision.

Analytical Thinking: Strong analytical skills with demonstrated problem-solving ability.

Effective Communications: Ability to communicate technical information effectively with team members and others in a workgroup, as well as employees in other business units, customers, and suppliers. Demonstrated record of being a self-starter with strong technical leadership and presentation skills.

Problem-Solving: Knowledge of approaches, tools, and techniques for recognizing, anticipating, and resolving organizational, operational, or process problems; ability to apply knowledge of problem-solving appropriately to diverse situations.

Project Management: Knowledge of effective project management strategies and tactics; ability to plan, organize, monitor, and control projects, ensuring efficient utilization of technical and administrative resources to achieve project objectives.

Computer-Aided Design & Engineering: Knowledge of tools and techniques of specialized simulation/analysis programs; ability to produce, analyze, simulate, and test product design drafts.

Education Requirement: Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science or equivalent education.

Top Candidates Will Also Have:

Software and controls experience.

Hands-on testing and data collection experience.

Caterpillar off-highway and large mining trucks experience.

Demonstrated project leadership in a matrix organization.

Experience with scripting, big data, analysis, and AI tools.

The primary location for this position is Tucson, AZ

Summary Pay Range:

$97,530.00 - $146,290.00

Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
