MWM offers energy solutions based on high-performance gas engines, used in highly efficient combined heat and power (CHP) plants for decentralized energy generation. Our customized cogeneration power plants and integrated solutions support our customers in making their energy supply efficient, flexible, and future-proof. In 1871, Carl Benz laid the basis for MWM by founding the “Mechanical Workshop“in Mannheim. Today, the MWM brand is part of Caterpillar Energy Solutions and combines more than 150 years of experience in the development and optimization of gas engines and generator sets for natural gas, biogas, and other special gases.

Program Team Leaders (m/w/d)

Location: Mannheim

The successful candidate will lead complex engineering projects to execute New Source Introduction (NSI) for the Caterpillar Large Power Systems Division (LPSD) team located in Mannheim, DE. NSI programs involve the qualification and introduction of a new supplier or manufacturing source for an existing part or component. It is part of Caterpillar's broader supplier quality, procurement, engineering, and supply chain management framework. The NSI Project Lead will operate as an individual contributor and lead cross-functional project teams across engineering, procurement, supplier quality, manufacturing, value chain, and suppliers to successfully introduce new sources while maintaining quality, cost, schedule, and delivery targets. The role requires strong technical judgment, project leadership, and the ability to influence decisions through expertise while communicating effectively with team members and stakeholders.

Your responsibilities as part of our team:

  • Develop project scope and execution plans to address NSI business challenges, supply continuity needs, engineering requirements, and value chain opportunities
  • Coordinate cross-functional resources across engineering, procurement, supplier quality, value chain, manufacturing, logistics, and suppliers to deliver project objectives
  • Oversee project progress, costs, risks, critical path, and deliverables; communicate status with stakeholders and participating functional areas
  • Lead and coordinate project team meetings, maintain open communication among participants, and ensure meeting best practices are followed
  • Anticipate, troubleshoot, and resolve technical, manufacturing, supplier readiness, and process issues using structured problem-solving and 6 Sigma principles
  • Evaluate trade-offs including technical risk, quality, cost, price, source selection, requirements, and schedule with appropriate process partner teams and stakeholders

Your profile – what you should bring:

  • Degree in Engineering, Materials Science, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, or a related technical discipline, combined with experience leading complex cross-functional projects in engineering, manufacturing, supplier, or value chain environments.
  • Strong project management capabilities with proven success in defining scope, developing execution plans, managing risks, budgets, schedules, critical paths, and delivering results.
  • Ability to lead and influence cross-functional teams across engineering, procurement, supplier quality, manufacturing, logistics, and external suppliers without direct authority.
  • Strong technical and analytical skills with the ability to assess requirements, evaluate trade-offs, troubleshoot issues, and drive effective business decisions using structured problem-solving methods; 6 Sigma certification is a plus.
  • Experience with New Source Introduction (NSI), New Product Introduction (NPI), Continuous Product Improvement (CPI), APQP, PPAP, supplier readiness, or related product and supplier development processes.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills with fluency in English and German and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple priorities.

  • This external facing role implies ability to travel < 25%

Base Minimum Pay:

99.906,00 €

Please note that salary is only one component of the total compensation and benefit package available at Caterpillar.

This position requires working onsite five days a week.
