Job Title: Supply Chain Planning Engineer
Salary: £49,500 + (depending on skills and experience)
Location: Peterborough

About IPSD
Caterpillar’s Industrial Power Systems Division (IPSD) designs, tests and manufactures 0.5 to 18L Cat® and Perkins engines across a wide range of applications. IPSD is actively supporting Caterpillar’s sustainability strategy, developing future-focused energy solutions.
Role Definition
Performs analysis to identify and develop business improvement opportunities and to evaluate return on investment (ROI) of the opportunity.
Responsibilities
• Identifying, defining, and implementing integrated supply chain solutions and performance improvements, including building internal and external alliances to explore opportunities.
• Establishing effective linkages, partnerships, and best practices with business partners and internal functions.
• Investigating and incorporating industry benchmarks, metrics and best practices to develop optimal supply chains for suppliers and/or product sets.
• Developing and analyzing data and information to identify and prioritize opportunities for improving performance and creating more cost-effective supply chains, inventory utilization, and business partnerships.

• Follows procedures in carrying out routine supplier management tasks.
• Uses electronic systems or tools to record/retrieve supplier information and carry out transactions with suppliers.
• Resolves routine supplier issues; escalates non-routine issues up chain of command.
• Researches alternative vendors or suppliers; participates in supplier selection.
• Works with suppliers to ensure that purchases meet delivery date and quality specifications.
Additional information: Role will involve up to 25% travel worldwide
