Caterpillar’s Earthmoving Division is hiring a New Technology Introduction Engineering Manager in Peoria, IL.

Role Summary: In this role you will plan, direct and lead Earthmoving engineering staff and strategic activities focused on exploring and advancing new technology solutions that are common across Earthmoving models. These technology solutions are aligned to the enterprise strategy and customer challenges. This team is responsible for developing and demonstrating automation technologies, which are often used in conjunction with information systems, safety systems, remote control, semi-autonomous, and fully autonomous machine control systems. Be the leader of a team that helps develop, integrate, and test complex systems focusing on machine safety and productivity – ultimately providing a differentiated product value to our customers globally.

What You’ll Do (Job Duties)

  • Manage the new technology engineering projects and staff with an emphasis on organizational goals achievement, professional development and continuous improvement.
  • Lead strategic planning, prioritization and execution of Earthmoving new technology projects including investment needs, resource planning and customer value.
    • Manage execution cadence, technology readiness level process adherence and new product introduction adoption plans for the new technology project portfolio.
    • Ensure commercial viability of common solution sets.
  • Collaborate across Earthmoving and the enterprise to build organizational alignment and resolve gaps on common technology solutions.
  • Sustain new technology portfolio management processes.

What You Have (Core Skills)

  • Planning: Tactical, Strategic: Knowledge of effective planning techniques and ability to contribute to short term, tactical (1-2 years) and strategic (3-5 years) planning in support of the common new technology solutions. Knowledge of effective influencing tactics and strategies; ability to use these to deepen own expertise and impact or challenge decisions.
  • Decision Making and Critical Thinking: Knowledge of the decision-making process and associated tools and techniques; ability to accurately analyze situations and reach productive decisions based on informed judgment.
  • Communicating for Impact: Knowledge of concepts, tools and techniques for effective listening and communicating; ability to apply these theories to receive, transmit and accurately interpret information and ideas to influence others.
  • Managing People: Knowledge of processes involved in managing people; ability to build and lead successful teams, diligently address skills gaps and performance issues.
  • Collaborating Globally: Knowledge of effective collaboration techniques and ability to build networks with people from different countries and cultures, think and work with them to bring positive impact and flourishing business results.

Top Candidates Will Also Have

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in engineering
  • Extensive experience in new technology development for off-road machine applications or closely related disciplines
  • Experience building and leading high performing teams with a positive approach

Additional Details

  • Work location: IL-Peoria-Building AB Office
  • Domestic relocation assistance is available for this role

  • Travel: up to 10%
  • This position requires 5 days per week in the office (M-F)

Summary Pay Range:

$159,120.00 - $238,680.00

Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
