You’ll build and deploy against one of the most unique data foundations—over 1.6 million connected assets generating real-world data daily. These data and platform capabilities are enabling the development of AI models, edge computing architectures, and software systems that scale across fleets, products, and industries. The result will be a new generation of machines that continuously learn, improve, and deliver performance at scale.


What You Will Do:

  • Lead portfolio governance and investment planning processes to ensure funding, resources, and strategic priorities are aligned with organizational objectives.
  • Provide executive visibility into portfolio spend, headcount, contractors, vendors, and SOW commitments to drive informed decision-making.
  • Analyze investment distribution across mission teams and initiatives, ensuring resources are directed toward the highest-priority work and desired business outcomes.
  • Partner with business and finance leaders to evaluate portfolio performance, identify funding gaps, capacity constraints, and areas of overinvestment or underinvestment.
  • Facilitate strategic prioritization and portfolio review discussions, enabling leadership to assess risks, dependencies, and competing investment demands.
  • Recommend portfolio adjustments and funding reallocations based on changing priorities and organizational goals.
  • Drive executive tradeoff decisions by providing data-driven insights.


What You Will Have:

  • Planning: Tactical, Strategic: Knowledge of effective planning techniques and ability to contribute to operational (short term), tactical (1-2 years) and strategic (3-5 years) planning in support of the overall business plan.
  • Project Administration: Knowledge of project administration best practices and ability to use organizational strategies, practices and tools for administering projects.
  • Decision Making and Critical Thinking: Knowledge of the decision-making process and associated tools and techniques; ability to accurately analyze situations and reach productive decisions based on informed judgment.
  • Data Gathering and Reporting: Knowledge of tools, techniques and processes for gathering and reporting data; ability to practice them in a particular department or division of a company.

Top Candidates Will Have:

  • Understand headcount planning
  • Track contractor and vendor spend
  • Build executive dashboards (Power BI, Tableau, Excel)
  • Facilitate business reviews
  • Translate financial data into leadership decisions
  • Influence without direct authority
  • Work with Finance, Engineering, Product, HR, and Procurement
  • Tooling and structure (ADO, Confluence)

Additional Details:

  • This position requires the candidate to be based in either Peoria, IL or Dallas, TX
  • Domestic relocation assistance is available for this position.

Summary Pay Range:

$147,760.00 - $221,640.00

Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
