Caterpillar Switchgear, part of the Electric Power Division, currently has an opening for a Power Systems Applications Engineer located in Alpharetta, Georgia.

What You Will Do

  • Review specifications, proposals, estimates, and other contract documents to develop submittal packages consisting of drawings and BOMs.

  • Interpret customer specifications and drawings and have in-depth dealer/consultant interaction.

  • Approve designs for switchgear and generator control systems created by CAD Designers for submission to customer.

  • Design protective relaying schemes for switchgear.

  • Finalize power envelope designs for medium and low voltage systems

  • Work with consultants and customers to gain production approval on submittal packages.

  • Support inside and outside sales team members with technical solutions and guidance.

  • Support production engineers for successful transition from submittals to production.

  • Present clear detailed designs for production engineers to execute.

  • Experience in the design of low and medium voltage switchgear.

  • Research new part requirements, read manuals and contact vendors to ensure successful implementation.

  • Collaborate with customers and leadership to scope and execute projects that meet the needs of the business

  • Accountable for delivering timely, high-quality simulation and analysis impacting products/processes and providing clear recommendations to stakeholders

  • Partner with design, manufacturing, supply chain and test to robustly deliver new products and improve validation processes

  • Keep up-to-date on new technologies and drive continuous improvement to established techniques

  • Requires a degree in an accredited Engineering, Computer Science, or Materials Science curriculum.

Summary Pay Range:

$97,530.00 - $146,290.00
