Our Product Support and Logistics Division (PSLD) is one of the most innovative divisions within Caterpillar. In PSLD, as within all of Caterpillar, our priority is our customers and helping them build a better world. We touch nearly every element of the services value stream. PSLD is responsible for Aftermarket Parts Distribution of Cat Parts, Integrated Logistics and Global Services supporting Caterpillar dealers and customers. Our teams work together in critical areas that leverage digital capabilities, technology and operational excellence.

As a Supply Chain Planning Engineer, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining data-driven solutions that support the Claims and Returns organization. You will use programming and analytical tools, including SAS and Microsoft Power Platform, to create and enhance applications, data tables, reports, and on-demand analyses. This role will also troubleshoot and improve existing reporting solutions, respond to ad hoc data and application requests, lead moderately complex projects, and communicate findings and solutions to senior management while building an understanding of Returns and Claims processes across SPM and legacy systems.

Additional Information:

• This role is located in Morton, IL and does not offer relocation.
• This role is 1st shift, Monday – Friday.
• This role is 100% on-site with no opportunity for hybrid or remote schedules.
• This role requires up to 5% domestic travel.

What You Will Do:

• Provide technical support for reporting and data solutions used by Supply Planning Management (SPM) and Legacy Claims and Returns teams.

• Develop, maintain, troubleshoot, and enhance reports, data tables, applications, and analytical solutions.

• Fulfill new and ad hoc reporting requests, including gathering requirements, identifying appropriate data sources, developing code and queries, and publishing solutions through Power BI or SAS.

• Use programming and analytical skills to develop applications and solutions that address business and reporting needs.

• Maintain and update existing SAS programs, reports, and data processes to support evolving business requirements.

• Analyze data and reporting needs to identify opportunities for improved or innovative data sets, reports, and technical solutions.

• Investigate and resolve reporting issues, including repairing and enhancing existing reports and applications.

• Lead moderately complex projects using project management, Six Sigma, and Lean methodologies to manage deliverables, presentations, timelines, and project activities.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including SPM, Legacy Claims and Returns, Policy, Warehouse Operations, and Implementation teams.

• Partner with team members and stakeholders across multiple global regions to understand requirements and deliver effective data and reporting solutions.

• Communicate technical information, project updates, analyses, and recommendations effectively to business partners and senior management.

What You Have (Basic Requirements):

• Analytical Thinking: Knowledge of techniques and tools that promote effective analysis; ability to determine the root cause of organizational problems and create alternative solutions that resolve these problems.

• Decision Making and Critical Thinking: Knowledge of the decision-making process and associated tools and techniques; ability to accurately analyze situations and reach productive decisions based on informed judgment.

• Process Improvement: Understanding and insight into evaluating current product quality and production methods and ability to maintains focus on the continuous improvement of processes, products and services.

• Project Management: Knowledge of effective project management strategies and tactics; ability to plan, organize, monitor, and control projects, ensuring efficient utilization of technical and administrative resources to achieve project objectives.
  
  

What Will Set You Apart (Top Candidates Will Have):

• At least one year of hands-on programming or coding experience in a professional environment.
• Experience developing, maintaining, and troubleshooting code, queries, reports, or data solutions.
• Experience working with Snowflake data sets and related data environments.
• Experience with Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems or the underlying data used to support them.
• Familiarity with Caterpillar systems, processes, and data environments.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently, troubleshoot problems, and drive solutions with limited day-to-day technical guidance.
• Ability to quickly understand business needs and translate them into effective technical or data solutions.
