Job Description:

Your Work Shapes the World at Caterpillar Inc.

When you join Caterpillar, you're joining a global team who cares not just about the work we do – but also about each other. We are the makers, problem solvers, and future world builders who are creating stronger, more sustainable communities. We don't just talk about progress and innovation here – we make it happen, with our customers, where we work and live. Together, we are building a better world, so we can all enjoy living in it.

At Caterpillar, the work we do matters. For more than 100 years, we've delivered products and solutions that support mining, construction, and infrastructure worldwide. Our teams combine practical engineering expertise, manufacturing excellence, and disciplined execution to deliver equipment that performs in the toughest conditions.
As a global leader in mining equipment, we are committed to designing safe, reliable, and compliant products that meet the evolving needs of customers and regulators around the world.

What You’ll Be Doing
This is an exciting opportunity for a compliance, engineering, or product safety professional who enjoys working across technical, regulatory, and business functions to ensure products meet global safety and certification requirements.
You'll work closely with Engineering, Product Groups, Caterpillar Product Compliance & Safety, certification agencies, and regulatory authorities to:

  • Lead product regulatory compliance activities across our Underground Hard Rock product portfolio
  • Support new product development, market expansion, and continuous product improvement initiatives
  • Ensure products meet applicable global regulatory, safety, and certification requirements

Importantly, we're open to candidates from a range of backgrounds including product compliance, product safety, engineering, certification, or regulatory roles within mining, heavy equipment, construction, rail, defence, oil & gas, or other highly regulated industries.
Your mission is to ensure Caterpillar products can be delivered confidently into global markets while meeting the highest standards of safety, compliance, and product integrity. This role extends beyond documentation and certification activities. You will work closely with engineering and product teams throughout the product lifecycle, identifying compliance requirements, supporting risk assessments, and driving successful certification outcomes.
In addition, you will collaborate with internal specialists and external authorities to monitor emerging regulatory requirements and implement appropriate compliance strategies that support both business objectives and customer needs.

In This Role, You Will

  • Lead and coordinate product compliance activities across the Underground Hard Rock product portfolio
  • Act as the primary point of contact for product regulatory compliance matters
  • Interpret and communicate global regulations, directives, standards, and legislative requirements
  • Prepare and maintain Technical Construction Files and related compliance documentation
  • Manage product certifications, approvals, and relationships with third-party certification agencies
  • Develop and maintain Declarations of Conformity and supporting compliance records
  • Support New Product Introduction (NPI), Continuous Product Improvement (CPI), New Market Introduction (NMI), and New Source Introduction (NSI) programs
  • Determine market-specific compliance requirements and product certification needs
  • Coordinate compliance activities between engineering, legal, product management, certification agencies, and other stakeholders
  • Facilitate product safety risk assessments and support risk mitigation activities
  • Review and approve compliance validation reports and certification documentation
  • Monitor emerging regulatory changes and coordinate implementation plans with relevant teams
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of product compliance processes and governance frameworks

What You Will Bring
We're looking for a technically capable professional who can translate complex regulatory requirements into practical business outcomes. Ideally you will have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Safety Engineering, Product Compliance, or a related discipline
  • Experience in product compliance, product safety, engineering, certification, quality, or regulatory affairs
  • Knowledge of international product safety standards, machinery regulations, and certification requirements
  • Experience participating in product risk assessments and product safety reviews
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively across engineering, manufacturing, legal, and commercial teams
  • Strong analytical, organisational, and project coordination capability
  • High attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem solving

Highly Regarded

  • Experience within mining, underground equipment, heavy mobile equipment, construction machinery, rail, defence, or oil & gas industries
  • Familiarity with global machinery legislation and certification frameworks
  • Experience working with regulatory authorities and third-party certification bodies
  • Knowledge of compliance management systems and technical document control processes
  • Exposure to global product certification and market-entry requirement
