At Caterpillar, we’re not just building machines—we’re building the future. As a MineStar Application Specialist, you’ll be based at the Bagdad Copper Mine in Arizona, working side-by-side with our customer to maintain a fleet of Caterpillar autonomous haul trucks.

What You’ll Do
Support customers by providing product application expertise
Serve as customer consultant to help them improve operations using MineStar technology
People – Consult with site to ensure they have the correct organization to support mining technology
Process – Consult with site to ensure key processes are in place to support mining technology
Site Status – Benchmarks site performance using several metrics to ensure continuous improvement
Sets MineStar Best Practices and processes
Review site audits and provide recommendations
Mentor junior team members and train site staff.
Build and maintain dashboards using tools like Power BI.
What You’ll Bring:
Technical Excellence: Technical expertise in mining technology, including machine control systems, off-board communications, networking, electronic system integration, or autonomous mining solutions. Backgrounds such as Onboard Specialist, Command Service Engineer, Pit Technician, MineStar Application Specialist, or similar mining technology roles are highly valued.
Field Support: Proven experience providing field support and maintaining complex hardware and software systems. Demonstrated success supporting customers on-site and delivering solutions in fast-paced mining or industrial settings.
Problem Solving: Demonstrated ability to independently anticipate, diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve organizational, operational, technical, and process-related challenges, implementing effective solutions that minimize disruption and sustain safe, productive operations.
Communication skills: Exceptional communication and relationship-building skills with the ability to work autonomously at customer sites while effectively collaborating with cross-functional teams, stakeholders, and technical experts. Comfortable translating complex technical concepts into clear, actionable information and building credibility with customers and operational leaders.
Analytical Skills: Strong diagnostic approach for electronic systems and networks; aptitude with logs/telemetry to understand root cause.
Top Candidates will also have:
Degree in Mining Engineering.
Experience with MineStar systems and autonomous mining technology.
Hands-on experience in a mine-site or camp environment.
Additional Information:
The mine is located in Bagdad, Arizona.
Minestar Application Specialists work a 7x7-off day/night shift roster.
At the start of each shift rotation, the successful candidate will drive to the site and stay in customer-provided accommodations for the duration of their shift. Upon completion of the rotation, they will return to their home location for their scheduled days off.
If your scheduled shift falls on a federal holiday, you will be required to work that day as part of your regular rotation.
Domestic relocation assistance is available.

Summary Pay Range:
$112,710.00 - $169,060.00Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
