Caterpillar’s Law, Security & Public Policy Division (LSPP) is looking for a Paralegal to support the Fair Competition team and a portfolio of enterprise compliance functions. This position will primarily assist in-house attorneys and compliance leaders with legal tasks and activities to support and protect the organization. The role will support the antitrust and fair competition team, as well as our regional compliance, business unit compliance, anti-bribery, and human resources legal teams. This role reports to the Associate General Counsel and offers the opportunity to work across a broad range of legal and compliance fields.

What You Will Do:

  • Support the antitrust and fair competition team, assisting attorneys with routine legal issues, research, drafting, and process and matter coordination.

  • Support regional compliance, business unit compliance, anti-bribery, and human resources legal teams, providing paralegal and administrative support under the direction of a diverse group of attorneys.

  • Conduct legal tasks, such as research and drafting, under the supervision of attorneys.

  • Maintain repositories of legal and compliance documentation, procedures, and records across supported functional areas.

  • Collect law sources for attorneys such as statutes, regulations, recorded judicial decisions, legal articles and legal codes for preparation of legal documents.

  • Coordinate multiple concurrent priorities across teams, organize meetings across time zones, and support process improvement and training efforts.

  • Accuracy and Attention to Detail: Understanding the necessity and value of accuracy; ability to complete tasks with high levels of precision.

  • Confidentiality: Knowledge of practices and policies governing disclosure of information about the organization, its business activities, and employees; ability to apply this knowledge appropriately to diverse situations.

  • Decision Making and Critical Thinking: Knowledge of the decision-making process and associated tools and techniques; ability to accurately analyze situations and reach productive decisions based on informed judgment.

  • Effective Communications: Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors.

  • Managing Multiple Priorities: Knowledge of effective self-management practices; ability to manage multiple concurrent objectives, projects, groups, or activities, making effective judgments as to prioritizing and time allocation.

  • Document Management: Knowledge of document management; ability to categorize, integrate, update, document and distribute business information in a secure, effective way.

  • Legal Analysis: Knowledge of methods and tools used in legal analysis; ability to read, interpret and draw accurate conclusions from both legal and factual information.

  • Legal Function: Knowledge of the major responsibilities, accountabilities, and organization of the legal function or department; ability to provide legal consulting, advice and assistance.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Four (4) year university or college degree and demonstration of progressively responsible job-related experience

  • Paralegal Certificate (not required if have 2-year degree in Paralegal Studies)

  • The primary location for this position is Irving, Texas

  • International and Domestic travel up to 5%

Summary Pay Range:

$81,370.00 - $122,060.00

Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
