Role Definition:
We are seeking an Information Technology Manager for our Global Remanufacturing group. In this role, you will provide leadership, enterprise architecture direction, and business relationship management to the Reman IT organization at Caterpillar facilities in Corinth, MS, Fargo, ND; and Franklin, IN.
Your role will involve driving emerging technology trends — including smart manufacturing, IoT connectivity, automation, and digital twin collaborating closely with business leaders, process partners, vendors, and IT support staff across a highly matrixed and federated environment. You will tackle complex business problems with innovative solutions, enabling new capabilities that support our remanufacturing, repair, and refurbishment operations. Additionally, you’ll offer thought leadership by strategically influencing business partners.
This position is crucial in ensuring our business-relevant IT initiatives and strategies are seamlessly integrated and effectively support our global operations in the Power & Energy segment.
This role serves as a subject-matter expert and trusted advisor, developing business-relevant IT solutions that leverage existing and new platforms — spanning ERP, MES, WMS, and CRM — to achieve Reman’s business goals.
What You Will Do:
Oversee the deployment, maintenance, and integration of IT systems within the manufacturing facility, including Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES), Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP, such as SAP), Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), and other related software and shop-floor connectivity platforms.
Drive the remanufacturing digital transformation roadmap — including automation, machine and IoT connectivity, digital twin, and customer and business portals — to modernize production systems and increase operational visibility.
Provide ongoing technical support to manufacturing staff, ensuring high system availability and consistent service levels.
Oversee the collection, storage, analysis of manufacturing data — leveraging analytics and business-intelligence tools (e.g., Power BI, Cognos) to improve process efficiency, quality control, and data-driven decision-making.
Build and maintain relationships with technology vendors, service providers, and internal stakeholders.
Provide leadership, coaching, and career development for the Power and Energy IT support team.
Serve as an escalation point for Priority 1 & 2 Incident tickets in the ITSM process using ServiceNow.
Manage strategic alignment of IT and Business projects, applying Agile / SAFe and lean delivery practices to improve speed and quality.
Manage relationships with internal and external suppliers, such as the Enterprise network, database, servers, security, and desktop support.
Strengthen cybersecurity, data governance, and risk management in alignment with NIST, SOC, SOX, ITAR, and CMMC requirements, and oversee business continuity and disaster recovery planning for mission-critical systems.
Resolve issues and eliminate roadblocks to realize the project solution architecture and ensure no delay in project implementation.
Serve as a trusted liaison between business and enterprise IT throughout the life of the new product introduction, implementation, deployment, transition to support, and ongoing continuous improvements — including B2B, B2C, EDI, and system integrations.
What You Have:
Relevant degree (e.g., Computer Science, Information Systems, or Engineering) and/or progressive and complex experience.
Previous technical and managerial experience in applications or infrastructure with a broad background in system hardware, system software, support and development methodologies, business planning, project management, and customer application needs.
A broad knowledge of one or more applications and infrastructure components — spanning ERP, MES, integration, cloud, and networking is necessary.
Top Candidates Will Have:
IT leadership experience in manufacturing, supply chain, and/or remanufacturing, repair, and refurbishment operations, including managing multi-site teams and multi-million-dollar budgets.
Strengths in personal planning, initiating actions, delegation, building consensus, decision making, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
Industrial manufacturing experience, a digital manufacturing transformation background, and proven leadership through influence in a highly matrixed and federated environment.
Hands-on experience implementing and optimizing enterprise platforms — ERP (SAP, Infor), MES, WMS, and CRM (e.g., Salesforce) across multiple locations, including B2B, B2C, EDI, and system integrations.
Experience championing smart manufacturing, IoT connectivity, automation, and digital twin initiatives, including shopfloor and OT systems (e.g., Keyence, Mazak, Fanuc, Tulip, VKS).
Depth in cybersecurity, compliance, and risk frameworks — NIST 800-171/53, SOC 2, SOX, ITAR, and CMMC — with experience governing controlled/CUI data and building business continuity and disaster recovery programs.
Experience with cloud and infrastructure modernization, including Azure, AWS, VMware/Hyper-V, data center, and enterprise networking (e.g., Cisco, Palo Alto, Meraki).
Innovation mindset.
Experience in applying lean skills and continuous improvement.
Experience in multiple technologies, including Distributed / Mainframe / Integration / ERP.
Knowledge and experience in project management (Scope, Cost, and Time Estimation, Resource Planning, etc.); PMP and/or Certified SAFe Practitioner credentials preferred.
