Our Product Support and Logistics Division (PSLD) is one of the most innovative divisions within Caterpillar. In PSLD, as within all of Caterpillar, our priority is our customers and helping them build a better world. PSLD is responsible for the worldwide distribution of Cat aftermarket parts, integrated logistics, and global service to develop and support our global dealer network and customers.
As the Logistics Engineer, you will lead the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of logistics processes that drive safety, efficiency, quality, and operational performance across manufacturing and distribution operations. Leveraging engineering principles, Lean methodologies, and data-driven decision making, you will optimize material flow, warehouse operations, inventory movement, and logistics systems to support business objectives. In partnership with engineering, manufacturing, operations, and supply chain teams, you will develop innovative solutions that improve productivity, increase capacity, and enable scalable growth through process optimization and automation.

What You Will Do:
- Lead logistics engineering projects focused on enhancing workplace safety, increasing operational capacity, improving productivity, and advancing warehouse automation initiatives.
- Design, analyze, and optimize material flow, storage strategies, warehouse layouts, and logistics processes to improve efficiency, reduce waste, and support operational excellence.
- Apply Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies to identify opportunities, eliminate process inefficiencies, and implement sustainable logistics solutions.
- Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, operations, and supply chain stakeholders to define critical process requirements, establish key performance metrics, and develop improvement plans that support business goals.
- Develop and implement process controls, standard work, and operational best practices to ensure consistency, reliability, and continuous improvement across logistics operations.
- Maintain and enhance logistics engineering standards, tools, methodologies, and knowledge-sharing practices, ensuring effective implementation across existing and new operations.
- Evaluate logistics processes, workflows, and system performance using data-driven analysis to identify improvement opportunities and drive measurable results.
- Conduct root cause analyses for logistics and operational issues, develop corrective and preventive actions, and lead implementation efforts to improve performance and prevent recurrence.
- Support the evaluation, selection, and implementation of automation, material handling, and warehouse technologies that improve safety, accuracy, and operational effectiveness.
- Drive a culture of continuous improvement by partnering with cross-functional teams to identify, prioritize, and execute logistics optimization initiatives.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by Caterpillar management.
What You Have (Basic Qualifications):
- Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Logistics Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or equivalent experience in engineering, operations, supply chain, or related field.
- Analytical Thinking: Knowledge of techniques and tools that promote effective analysis; ability to determine the root cause of organizational problems and create alternative solutions that resolve these problems.
- Decision Making and Critical Thinking: Knowledge of the decision-making process and associated tools and techniques; ability to accurately analyze situations and reach productive decisions based on informed judgment.
- Flexibility & Adaptability: Knowledge of successful approaches and techniques for dealing with change; ability to adapt to a changing environment and be comfortable with change.
- Planning and Organizing: Knowledge of the process of planning and arranging tasks and resources; ability to plan and organize both time and resources to get things completed while structuring and maintaining work in a systematic and highly methodical way.
- Problem Solving: Knowledge of approaches, tools, techniques for recognizing, anticipating, and resolving organizational, operational or process problems; ability to apply knowledge of problem solving appropriately to diverse situations.
- Process Management: Knowledge of business process improvement tools and techniques; ability to understand, monitor, update, control, or enhance existing business or work processes.
- Supply Chain Management: Knowledge of functions, principles and techniques used in supply chain management; ability to develop and use, strategies, practices and tools for controlling the logistical processes.
What You Have (Preferred Qualifications):
- Demonstrated experience leading logistics engineering initiatives focused on safety improvements, operational efficiency, capacity expansion, material flow optimization, and continuous improvement within manufacturing, warehousing, or distribution environments.
- Proven success managing capital projects and implementing automation solutions, including automated material handling systems, autonomous mobile robots (AMRs), automated storage and retrieval systems (ASRS), warehouse management technologies, and other Industry 4.0 initiatives that improve productivity and operational performance.
- Strong knowledge of warehouse and distribution operations, including facility layout design, material flow analysis, inventory storage strategies, process controls, capacity planning, and transportation optimization.
- Experience applying Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies to identify waste, streamline processes, and deliver measurable operational improvements.
- Ability to leverage data analytics and performance metrics to evaluate logistics processes, conduct root cause analysis, and develop sustainable corrective actions and process enhancements.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate across engineering, manufacturing, operations, supply chain, and safety teams to develop and implement scalable logistics solutions that support business objectives.
- Experience developing and maintaining engineering standards, process documentation, standard work, and best practices to drive consistency and operational excellence across logistics operations.

Summary Pay Range:
$97,530.00 - $146,290.00Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
