SPM Oil & Gas, a Caterpillar company, is seeking a Senior IT Business Partner – Distribution Operations to serve as the primary technology partner supporting distribution center operations and warehouse management capabilities. This role is embedded within the distribution center environment and works closely with Operations, Inventory Control, Shipping, Receiving, Planning, Customer Service, and Supply Chain teams to ensure technology solutions effectively enable business performance and operational excellence.
As the functional owner and business technology liaison for the Blue Yonder Warehouse Management System (WMS), the Senior IT Business Partner combines application leadership, business relationship management, process improvement, and project delivery responsibilities. The successful candidate will act as the bridge between business stakeholders, IT teams, software vendors, and system integrators to drive technology adoption, optimize warehouse operations, and deliver continuous business value.
What You Will Do:
Business Partnership & Engagement
- Serve as the primary IT contact for all warehouse and distribution center operations.
- Build strong relationships with business leaders, supervisors, and frontline users.
- Translate business requirements into technical solutions and system enhancements.
- Facilitate regular reviews of operational challenges, performance metrics, and improvement opportunities.
- Participate in daily, weekly, and monthly operational meetings.
Blue Yonder WMS Ownership
- Provide functional ownership and support for the Blue Yonder WMS platform.
- Manage system configuration, testing, validation, and deployment of enhancements.
- Coordinate with software vendors and support partners to resolve incidents and implement improvements.
- Ensure system stability, performance, and adherence to service-level expectations.
- Support warehouse process areas including:
- Receiving
- Put-away
- Inventory Management
- Cycle Counting
- Wave Planning
- Picking
- Packing
- Shipping
- Returns Processing
Operational Support
- Serve as escalation point for WMS-related issues impacting distribution center operations.
- Coordinate issue resolution across internal IT teams and external vendors.
- Monitor application health, interfaces, and transactional performance.
- Conduct root cause analysis for recurring issues.
- Ensure business continuity plans are maintained and tested.
Continuous Improvement
- Identify opportunities to improve warehouse productivity, inventory accuracy, and operational efficiency.
- Lead process improvement initiatives leveraging WMS capabilities.
- Support automation and digital transformation projects.
- Develop business cases and prioritize enhancement requests.
- Analyze operational metrics and recommend process improvements.
Systems Integration
- Work closely with ERP, transportation, inventory, reporting, and automation teams.
- Support data integrations between Blue Yonder and other enterprise applications.
- Validate testing for system changes and upgrades.
- Participate in major projects, new site deployments, and facility expansions.
User Enablement & Training
- Develop and maintain training materials and standard operating procedures.
- Deliver end-user training and onboarding sessions.
- Promote best practices and system adoption across the distribution center.
- Act as a change champion during process and technology transformations.
Governance & Compliance
- Ensure appropriate security roles and controls are maintained.
- Support audit activities and compliance requirements.
- Maintain system documentation, process flows, and support procedures.
- Follow IT governance, cybersecurity, and change management standards.
What You Have:
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, or related field.
- 5+ years of experience supporting Warehouse Management Systems.
- 3+ years of experience working with Blue Yonder WMS, JDA WMS, or similar warehouse platforms.
- Experience supporting distribution center or warehouse operations.
- Knowledge of inventory management and fulfillment processes.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Experience leading cross-functional projects and process improvement initiatives.
Top Candidates Will Also Have:
- Blue Yonder WMS implementation or administration experience.
- Experience with supply chain, ERP, and transportation systems.
- Knowledge of SQL, reporting, and analytics tools.
- Lean, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement experience.
- Project management experience.
- Experience supporting automated warehouse technologies and material handling systems.

Summary Pay Range:
$112,710.00 - $183,140.00Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
