About The Role:

The Digital Strategy Manager acts as the global strategy and business owner for Marine digital solutions across relevant marine industry segments. The role utilizes their deep expertise and experience with Caterpillar data systems, telematics, and business intelligence products to partner closely with the marine strategy team, product and commercial teams, Cat dealers, Digital, IT, aftermarket, service, data, cybersecurity, legal, compliance, enterprise digital teams, and division process partners to prioritize, govern, and deploy digital opportunities that solve customer challenges and create differentiated value.

What You Will Do:

  • Develops, maintains, and communicates the global Caterpillar Marine digital strategy, ensuring linkage to marine strategy, COGMD priorities, enterprise digital roadmaps, dealer value proposition, customer lifecycle needs, and growth objectives.
  • Provides business ownership for the Caterpillar Marine portfolio of digital solutions, including portfolio prioritization, value proposition definition, roadmap governance, lifecycle decisions, and stewardship of the MGPP in alignment with enterprise and division process partners.
  • Converts customer, dealer, industry, regulatory, segment, and competitive inputs into digital priorities, use cases, business cases, deployment roadmaps, and investment recommendations.
  • Evaluates enterprise technologies and external digital solutions for marine applicability, including connected assets, remote monitoring, analytics, predictive maintenance, fleet visibility, lifecycle optimization, service enablement, and customer experience capabilities.
  • Leads cross-functional stakeholder alignment, governance preparation, executive communications, and decision support for digital initiatives across the marine business unit.
  • Identifies inorganic opportunities, including partnerships, alliances, acquisitions, investments, technology licensing, and ecosystem plays that could accelerate execution or close capability gaps.
  • Monitors adoption, market feedback, dealer readiness, customer value realization, and portfolio performance to refine the roadmap and recommend strategic pivots.

Key Digital Strategy Focus Areas

  • Customer and dealer-facing digital services that improve uptime, visibility, utilization, maintenance planning, operational efficiency, and lifecycle value.
  • Digitally supported commercial and aftermarket growth models, including service growth, customer value agreements, dealer-enabled workflows, and parts and service pull-through.
  • Fleet, equipment, and customer data strategy requirements, including mixed fleets, ship-to-shore models, analytics, reporting, and decision support.
  • Marine-specific digital standards, data governance, cybersecurity, regulatory, compliance, and interoperability requirements.
  • Competitive, ecosystem, and inorganic opportunities across OEMs, marine technology providers, digital fleet platforms, connectivity providers, analytics companies, and systems integrators.

  • Digital solution strategy: Evaluates digital technologies, data platforms, connectivity, analytics, and customer workflows for marine applicability and scalable execution.
  • Stakeholder management: Builds alignment across marine, dealers, customers, enterprise digital, product, commercial, aftermarket, service, legal, compliance, cybersecurity, and process partner organizations.
  • Data gathering and benchmarking: Oversees market intelligence, voice-of-customer input, dealer feedback, competitive analysis, standards monitoring, and digital trend reporting.

  • Problem Solving: Knowledge of approaches, tools, techniques for recognizing, anticipating, and resolving organizational, operational or process problems; ability to apply knowledge of problem solving appropriately to diverse situations.
  • Relationship Management: Knowledge of relationship management techniques; ability to establish and maintain healthy working relationships with clients, vendors, and peers.
  • Effective Communications: Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors.

Typical Qualifications

  • Degree or equivalent experience desired; advanced degree in business, strategy, engineering, technology, digital, data, or related field preferred.
  • Significant experience in strategy development, digital product or solution strategy, business development, consulting, commercial strategy, product management, program management, or technology-enabled service models.
  • Strong understanding of marine customer operations, dealer channels, aftermarket value creation, enterprise digital capabilities, connected assets, data platforms, analytics, customer-facing applications, cybersecurity, compliance, and technology partnerships preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional strategy work, influence without direct authority, prioritize portfolio choices, and translate complex market and technology inputs into executive-ready recommendations.
  • Global perspective and ability to operate across regions, cultures, marine segments, dealers, customers, and enterprise stakeholder groups.

Success Measures

  • Enterprise-aligned Caterpillar Marine digital strategy, roadmap, and MGPP adopted by key stakeholders.
  • Effective business ownership of the Marine digital solutions portfolio, with clear prioritization, governance, value propositions, and lifecycle decisions.
  • Validated customer and dealer-backed use cases with prioritized business cases and execution pathways.
  • Improved visibility to market trends, standards, competitive digital capabilities, emerging customer requirements, and inorganic acceleration opportunities.
  • Digital initiatives linked to measurable customer value, dealer enablement, aftermarket and OE growth, operational efficiency, and marine strategy outcomes.

Summary Pay Range:

$128,470.00 - $192,710.00

Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
