Role Definition:

Manages manufacturing engineering activities focused on industrial painting and coating processes, providing technical leadership to define, optimize, and sustain safe, efficient, and cost-effective paint operations. Oversees surface preparation, pretreatment, masking, coating application, curing, paint booth performance, equipment capability, process controls, plant layouts, and new equipment installations to ensure high-quality, repeatable production that meets appearance, adhesion, corrosion resistance, durability, safety, and environmental requirements.

Responsibilities:

  • Developing and maintaining an effective manufacturing engineering organization capable of supporting painting operations, achieving business objectives, and driving technical excellence across the paint shop.

  • Leading painting process engineering activities, including surface preparation, pretreatment, masking, primer and topcoat application, powder or liquid paint systems, flash-off, curing, touch-up, rework methods, cycle time analysis, cost estimating, capacity planning, layout optimization, paint tooling, fixtures, and work standards.

  • Managing the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of painting methods, equipment, systems, and operating infrastructure to improve safety, productivity, first-pass yield, coating quality, transfer efficiency, throughput, cost performance, and overall equipment effectiveness.

  • Ensuring assigned paint facilities, booths, ovens, conveyors, spray systems, tooling, fixtures, process parameters, and methods are available and capable of supporting authorized product programs, production schedules, and capacity requirements.

  • Partnering with production, quality, maintenance, environmental, supply chain, and product engineering teams to resolve paint defects, support new product introductions, improve manufacturability, reduce rework and scrap, and optimize painting performance.

Educational Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field

  • Advanced English

  • Expert in industrial painting, coating, pretreatment, and curing processes

Skills:
Capacity Planning & Management

  • Defines resource and capacity needs with R&D and operations teams.

  • Develops forecasts across product lines, sites, and painting operations.

  • Converts demand forecasts into production, cost, and capacity plans.

Decision Making & Critical Thinking

  • Evaluates data, assumptions, risks, and options to make informed decisions.

  • Applies consultative, directive, or consensus-based approaches as needed.

  • Supports teams in assessing alternatives and anticipating operational impact.

Lean Manufacturing

  • Promotes lean practices across painting and manufacturing operations.

  • Improves work cell design, plant layout, material flow, and process efficiency.

  • Coaches’ teams on lean tools, performance metrics, and continuous improvement.

Manufacturing Equipment

  • Assesses, selects, and implements equipment and infrastructure improvements.

  • Tracks paint equipment performance, maintenance history, upgrades, and operating conditions.

  • Ensure teams are trained to operate paint equipment safely and effectively.

Manufacturing Processes

  • Creates and standardizes best practices for painting, coating, pretreatment, and curing processes.

  • Assesses new technologies, methods, and process improvement opportunities.

  • Optimize processes based on product needs, coating quality, cost, durability, and process capability.

Performance Management

  • Establishes clear goals, provides feedback, and recognizes results.

  • Identifies performance gaps and defines improvement actions.

  • Aligns objectives with team priorities while supporting employee development.

Problem Solving

  • Leads structured problem-solving for high-impact manufacturing issues.

  • Uses data and cross-functional collaboration to identify root causes and solutions.

  • Captures lessons learned to prevent recurrence and strengthen performance.

Top Candidates also have

  • Master’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Systems Engineering, or related fields.

  • Certified in Lean Six Sigma (Black Belt)

  • Painting, coating, or surface finishing certification.

Additional Information:

  • Location: Santa Catarina, Nuevo Leon.

  • This position is five-day a week in-office model.

  • Domestic and international travel up to 20%

  • Valid Travel Visa and Passport
