Join the Cat® Foresight team of Cat Digital and be responsible for bringing world-class capabilities to our products and services. With over 1.5 million connected assets worldwide, we're focused on using data, technology, advanced analytics, and AI capabilities to solve our customers’ toughest challenges.

The Cat® Foresight team is seeking a talented and motivated Lead Product Owner to deliver to production capabilities leveraging the latest advancements in predictive analytics and Generative AI to deliver unprecedented improvements in user efficiency, asset uptime, and customer satisfaction. Activities will include creating and executing on Epics and Features to support the transformation of the Cat® Foresight Condition Monitoring Digital Product. This individual will closely collaborate with data scientists, architects, and engineers with our organization, and will need to have strong technical skills in digital product development as well as in effective communication with business partners on requirements, expectations, timelines, and project budget during the development of the new technologies/capabilities.


What You Will Do:

  • Defining Epics and Features for building capabilities with clear understanding of the business problems to be solve and working with the Cat® Foresight Condition Monitoring Product Manager on prioritizing working among the greater Product Backlog.
  • Coordinates with product development engineers to track and communicate development timelines and budget allocation.
  • Identifies, documents, and reports design, reliability and maintenance problems and bugs. Gathers and consolidates feedback from customers and field staff.
  • Coordinates with field support and users to address and resolve problems and expand product usage.
  • Answers user and field support questions; provides guidance and support for issues pertaining to the overall Product.

What You Will Have:

  • Software Product Business Knowledge: Extensive knowledge of and experience with the business aspects and operation of a software product; ability to manage install base, current uses, future plans, and product vision.
  • Software Change Request Management: Extensive experience of software change request management; ability to manage software product change requests from customers, prospective customers, vendors, and internal staff.
  • Effective Communications: Extensive understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors.
  • Decision Making and Critical Thinking: Extensive experience of the decision-making process and associated tools and techniques; ability to accurately analyze situations and reach productive decisions based on informed judgment.
  • User Acceptance Testing (UAT): Extensive knowledge of UAT activities, tasks, tools and techniques; ability to design, implement and evaluate acceptance tests for end-users.

Considerations For Top Candidates:

  • Extensive professional experience as a Product Owner or related role using Agile methodology (typically 5+ years)
  • Typically, a Bachelors, Masters, or PhD degree in Applied Statistics, Data Science, Business Analytics, Predictive Analytics, Business Intelligence & Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering (Aerospace, Electrical, Mechanical, Computer, Industrial, Agricultural, etc.), or equivalent technical degree.
  • Knowledge of software change request management; ability to manage software product change requests from customers, prospective customers, vendors, and internal staff.
  • Working knowledge of strategies, practices and tools for resolving software problems; ability to manage software problems in installed software products.
  • Extensive knowledge of and experience with the business aspects and operation of a software product; ability to manage install base, current uses, future plans, and product vision.
  • Knowledge of UAT activities, tasks, tools and techniques; ability to design, implement and evaluate acceptance tests for end-users.
  • Experience working with onshore/offshore team model.
  • Knowledge of the software development lifecycle.
  • Industry experience is a plus.


Additional Information:

This position will be based out of either our Chicago, IL or Peoria, IL or Irving, TX offices.

Summary Pay Range:

$128,470.00 - $208,770.00

Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
