Core Components is responsible for the design and development of Caterpillar’s engine core components, including rotating systems, piston ring and liner (PRL) systems, valvetrain components, and heads, blocks, and housings. The Core Components Engine Simulation (CCES) team supports these products by applying advanced simulation methods to validate designs and drive successful execution of new product development, product improvement, supplier quality, and technology programs. We are seeking an Dynamics Simulation Team Leader to lead complex, cross-functional engineering projects and provide technical leadership across a global team.
This role leads Engine Multi-Body Dynamics (MBD) projects, including torsional vibration and geartrain dynamics simulations, across LPSD engine platforms. Responsibilities include overseeing standard simulation workflows that support product development programs and advancing simulation capabilities through the development of new and improved analysis methods.
What you will do
Lead and mentor a global team responsible for Multi-Body Dynamics simulations across engine platforms and applications.
Define technical direction, priorities and workload planning for Multi-Body Dynamics simulations activities in alignment with platform and product needs.
Partner with engine rotating component and platform design teams to scope, plan and execute dynamics simulations early in the program.
Own and ensure high quality execution of standard work for Multi-Body Dynamics analyses including model setup correlation and result interpretation.
Review and approve analysis results ensuring technical accuracy consistency and clear communication of risks and recommendations to stakeholders.
Support issue resolution related to components durability and field concerns through targeted simulation and root cause analysis.
Drive continuous improvement of Multi-Body Dynamics tools and processes to improve accuracy robustness and turnaround time.
Lead capability development including adoption of new modeling approaches correlation techniques and automation of routine analyses.
Develop team technical depth through coaching training and knowledge sharing while fostering collaboration across global locations.
