The Senior Human Resources Business Partner serves as a strategic liaison between HR and the business who implements HR strategies aligned with business objectives, provides guidance on HR policies and practices, and fosters a culture of employee engagement and development. This strategic HR position serves as a trusted advisor to leaders, translating business priorities into practical workforce, talent, and change-management solutions. The role leads HR professionals, uses workforce data to guide executive decisions, and partners across Human Resources Centers of Excellence to deliver integrated people strategies.

Located in East Peoria, Illinois, this opportunity supports the global Integrated Drivetrain engineering and supply chain organization. This is ideal for an HR professional who serves as a trusted advisor, combining strategic human resources expertise, executive consulting, talent strategy, change management, and data-driven decision-making to influence organizational outcomes.


What You Will Do:

  • Collaborating with senior management as a strategic advisor helping identify and prioritize HR initiatives that align with the organization's strategic goals and objectives.
  • Aligning HR policies and programs for their business unit or region which promote employee engagement, retention, and performance.
  • Acting as a trusted coach providing guidance to leaders and managers on HR-related matters, including performance management, compensation, and benefits, etc.
  • Analyzing HR metrics and data to identify trends and opportunities and develop a story to provide data-driven recommendations to senior management.

  • Business acumen: Leverages extensive business, operational, and financial knowledge to guide strategic decisions, influence organizational planning, evaluate business cases, and align HR strategies with business priorities.
  • Global Perspective: Leverages global business and global perspective to support cross-regional collaboration, informed decision-making, and effective international partnerships.
  • Knowledge of Organization: Demonstrates a strong understanding of the organization's strategy, culture, values, operating principles, and ethical standards, aligning capabilities and initiatives to support business objectives and organizational performance.
  • Decision-making and critical thinking: Applies sound judgment, analytical thinking, and structured decision-making approaches to evaluate information, solve complex problems, and make informed decisions that support business objectives.
  • Influencing: Uses strong relationship-building and communication skills to influence decisions, gain alignment, and achieve business objectives.
  • Employee Relations: Provides strategic guidance on employee relations matters, balancing business needs with legal compliance and fair employment practices to foster a positive workplace environment.
  • HR: Policies, Standards and Procedures: Leverages deep HR knowledge and business acumen to provide strategic guidance, ensure policy compliance, and deliver workforce solutions aligned with organizational goals.
  • Talent Management: Supports the attraction, development, and retention of talent to strengthen organizational capability and achieve business objectives.

Preferred Skills:

  • Education: Degree and relevant experience desired
  • Experience supporting HR initiatives within a complex business environment.
  • Ability to partner with managers and employees on HR programs, policies, and employee relations matters.
  • Knowledge of talent management, employee development, workforce planning, and engagement practices.
  • Experience using Workday or other HR information systems and applying HR data to support decision-making.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across diverse teams and business functions.

Summary Pay Range:

$128,470.00 - $192,710.00

Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
