As a Communications Specialist, you will serve as a trusted communications partner supporting the Building Construction Products (BCP) Division. This role will help shape business messaging, drive employee engagement, and support strategic communications initiatives that advance division priorities and business objectives.
You will partner closely with division leadership and cross-functional enterprise teams to develop and execute communications strategies that inform, inspire, and align employees, customers, dealers, suppliers, and other stakeholders. This role also collaborates extensively with communications professionals across Caterpillar to ensure consistent messaging and a coordinated approach across multiple channels and audiences.
The successful candidate will combine strong communications expertise, business acumen, and stakeholder management skills to support a fast-paced organization with broad visibility across the enterprise.
The ideal candidate is a self-starter who can take an idea or objective and independently drive progress while navigating a highly matrixed environment. Success in this role requires strong communication skills, sound judgment, creativity, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
What You Will Do
Strategic Communications & Messaging
- Act as a trusted advisor to leaders by providing strategic communications support that drives clarity, alignment, and engagement.
- Develop and execute communications plans that support business objectives and division priorities.
- Create messaging and communication materials that inform, inspire, and align employees to organizational goals.
- Translate complex business, operational, and technical concepts into clear and audience-appropriate communications.
- Support executive messaging, presentations, speeches, announcements, articles, and leadership communications.
Content Development & Storytelling
- Develop content for internal and external audiences, including:
- Employee communications
- Leadership communications
- Business updates
- Success stories
- Dealer and supplier communications
- Executive presentations
- Articles and speaking engagements
- Support the development of communications materials for meetings, strategic initiatives, events, and organizational priorities.
- Ensure communications align with Caterpillar's brand standards, voice, and messaging framework.
Stakeholder Collaboration
- Partner with business leaders, subject matter experts, legal, media relations, communications colleagues, and enterprise stakeholders.
- Build strong relationships across the organization to support communication priorities and business objectives.
- Facilitate communication planning and alignment across multiple functions and stakeholder groups.
- Support communication activities associated with key strategic initiatives, employee engagement efforts, and special projects.
Communications Innovation & Continuous Improvement
- Identify opportunities to improve communication effectiveness, efficiency, and stakeholder engagement.
- Utilize technology and innovative communication methods to reach audiences in meaningful ways.
- Apply process improvement principles to streamline communications development and delivery.
- Monitor communication effectiveness and recommend improvements based on audience feedback and performance metrics.

- Experience coordinating complex review and approval processes involving multiple stakeholders.
- Experience supporting manufacturing, industrial, construction, engineering, or operational business environments.
- Experience developing executive presentations, leadership messaging, and strategic communication materials.
- Experience researching industry trends, awards programs, speaking opportunities, or thought leadership initiatives.
- Familiarity with communication technologies, digital communication channels, and audience engagement tools.
- Experience with Adobe Express, video editing tools, or multimedia content development.
- Knowledge of communications measurement and performance analytics.
- Ability to manage sensitive or confidential information with professionalism and discretion.

Summary Pay Range:
$97,530.00 - $146,290.00Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
