As an Engineer, you will be leading design, development and maintenance of Large Engine Valve Train components to meet the requirements of New Source Introduction (NSI), Continuous Product Improvement (CPI) and New Product (NPI) & New Technology Introduction (NTI) projects. The position will have broad responsibility from concept development to release to production in a manner to ensure products provide superior performance, durability, quality, and serviceability. In this position you will be working with the global cross functional team to solve technical problems and delivery of projects, continually learn and stay abreast of innovative technology, guide team members, and deepen your professional network.
Job Duties/Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
- Design and development Reciprocating Engines Valve Train components and related processes
- Understand program requirements, boundary conditions & dynamics aspects & refine the design in close collaboration with component suppliers without compromising in design requirements and solve Manufacturing, Assembly & Field issues.
- Lead technical evaluation, design calculations, and participate in design decisions
- Utilize & follow key product development processes (FMEA, DVP&R, APQP, PPAP etc.) inherent in NTI, NPI, CPI, Maintenance & Cost Reduction Programs.
- Carry out basic performance analysis of the subsystem’s using analysis tools.
- Provide technical support to Manufacturing, Quality, and Purchasing team during the proto development
- Collaborate with Technical Leads, SME & Chief Engineer for test & validation requirements and communicate the results to cross functional team & Stakeholders for alignment to proceed for production.
- Ensure that drawing contains all the relevant information required for downstream usage
- Keeps abreast of latest technological advancements in Reciprocating Engine Valve Trains & develop innovative solutions for better quality & cost competitive designs.
- Lead project completion to time, quality and cost targets
- Effectively collaborate with internal & external suppliers and partners to meet the business goals
Required Qualifications / Experience:
Engineering degree in Mechanical with over 7+ years of previous experience in Reciprocating Engines mechanical systems design & development, preferably in Valve Train components. Skills in design & analysis tools (preferably in Creo & GT Suit), project management and Knowledge on NPI, NTI & CPI process with excellent communications skills are necessary. Ability to perform complex assignments, strong analytical skills with good interpersonal & global collaboration skills and willingness to travel globally as per project requirements are required.
Top Candidates Will Also Have:
- Master’s degree in an accredited Indian or Global Engineering schools
- Proficiency with core engine systems & components (crankshaft, gears, flywheel, valves, heads & blocks, Pistons etc.) design & development.
- Experience in Caterpillar Product development process and Engineering Standards.
