This role provides direction and support to business units in the areas of staffing, employee development, employee counseling, training, and performance management. The Human Resources Generalist partners with leaders and employees to support business objectives, ensure compliance with HR policies and procedures, and foster a positive work environment.

What You Will Do:

  • Make recommendations to senior management on issues concerning employees, recruiting, turnover or training.
  • Handle employee relations issues, outplacement counseling, and exit interviewing.
  • Administer compensation programs; monitor performance evaluation programs and revise as necessary.
  • Conducting organizational effectiveness assessments and recommend programs to address issues.
  • Execute investigations into employee concerns, maintain strict confidentiality, and prepare comprehensive report of findings.

What You Will Have:

  • Education: Degree or equivalent experience desired
  • Employee Relations: Knowledge of the rights and obligations in employee relations; ability to adhere to legal requirements when handling employee negotiations.
  • HR: Policies, Standards and Procedures: Knowledge of human resource function; ability to uphold the organization's and industry's standards, procedures and policies regarding human resources management.
  • Knowledge of Organization: Knowledge of the organization's vision, structure, culture, philosophy, operating principles, values, and code of ethics; ability to understand the value of aligning capabilities with business goals to support optimal performance.
  • Decision Making and Critical Thinking: Knowledge of the decision-making process and associated tools and techniques; ability to accurately analyze situations and reach productive decisions based on informed judgment.
  • Effective Communications: Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors.
  • Interpersonal Relationships: Knowledge of the techniques and the ability to work with a variety of individuals and groups in a constructive and collaborative manner.
  • Data Gathering and Reporting: Knowledge of tools, techniques and processes for gathering and reporting data; ability to practice them in a particular department or division of a company.
  • Investigations: Experience executing thorough, fact-based investigations, with sophisticated interpersonal and ethical skills to ensure fairness, accuracy, and compliance with the code of conduct as well as HR policies, standards, and regulations.

What Will Set You Apart:

  • Experience making recommendations to management regarding employee relations, recruiting, turnover, and training initiatives.
  • Experience administering compensation and performance management programs.
  • Experience conducting employee relations activities, including counseling, investigations, and exit interviews.
  • Experience performing organizational effectiveness assessments and recommending process improvements.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to gather, analyze, and interpret data to support business decisions and HR initiatives.

Additional Information:

  • Ability to occasionally be flexible with schedules to accommodate 2nd and 3rd shift employees.

Summary Pay Range:

$89,210.00 - $133,810.00

Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.

This position requires working onsite five days a week.
