About IPSD
Caterpillar’s Industrial Power Systems Division (IPSD) designs, tests and manufactures 0.5 to 18L engines that not only power Caterpillar machines, but also power over 5000 other applications including Marine, Petroleum, Industrial Applications, Electric Generators, and Locomotives. Job Summary
We have an exciting opportunity for a Material Planning Analyst. In this role, you’ll keep manufacturing running smoothly, with responsibility for scheduling, planning, and oversight of material procurement, production, and delivery. Additionally, you will partner with suppliers and internal teams to ensure materials arrive when and where they’re needed, while tackling real-world challenges like resolving supply and quality issues and improving material flow. You’ll help optimize inventory, strengthen supplier performance, and connect planning to execution—making a visible, meaningful impact on day-to-day operations and overall diesel engine production success.
What you will do:
- Coordinate flow of materials within the manufacturing facility by coordinating the transfer of materials (premium freight) to and from inventory or warehouse
- Develop and execute material planning for a product line by ensuring that all material requirements for assigned programs are satisfied within the allocated time frame
- Schedule and control the release of materials by monitoring material inventory in the plant, in the warehouse, and by critical suppliers
- Build up and follow up procurement plan realization to ensure they align with business objectives
- Track and analyze supplier performance metrics by collaborating and negotiating with suppliers to deliver materials per requirements
What you will have:
- Analytical Thinking: Knowledge of techniques and tools that promote effective analysis; ability to determine the root cause of organizational problems and create alternative solutions that resolve these problems
- Inventory Management - MFG: Knowledge of processes and methods of inventory management; ability to effectively manage local or distributed inventories of raw materials, work-in-progress and finished goods
- Manufacturing Requirements Planning (MRP): Knowledge of the processes, practices and systems used in manufacturing requirements planning (MRP); ability to optimize planning for manufacturing cycles and ensure capacity and materials availability
- Problem Solving: Knowledge of approaches, tools, techniques for recognizing, anticipating, and resolving organizational, operational or process problems; ability to apply knowledge of problem solving appropriately to diverse situations
- Supplier Management - MFG: Knowledge of processes and methods to effectively manage business relationships and transactions with suppliers of raw materials or product components; ability to apply related knowledge, experience and skills into real practice
What would make you a top candidate:
- Manufacturing Systems & Applications: Knowledge of enterprise manufacturing systems and tools that support production, data visibility, and process efficiency; ability to effectively utilize and adapt systems to optimize workflows and support operational objectives (experience with PLEX and MAMM strongly preferred)
- Purchasing & Procurement Systems: Knowledge of purchasing, procurement, and supplier management systems; ability to support and enhance purchasing processes, including order management, supplier coordination, and spend visibility through effective system utilization (experience with LOGNET highly desired)
- Execution Discipline: Knowledge of practices that ensure work is completed promptly, accurately, and with a strong focus on quality; ability to act decisively, manage priorities effectively, and deliver precise, detail-oriented results in time-sensitive situations

Summary Pay Range:
$72,360.00 - $108,540.00Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
