Job Summary:

We have an exciting opportunity for an Associate Accountant to join our team in South Africa. In this role, you will be responsible maintaining general ledger accounts, preparing GL accounts reconciliations, debtor and creditor cash allocation and preparing month end reports. You will also be responsible for month end journals. Additionally, you will conduct or assist in documenting accounting projects and prepare or assist in the preparation of accounting reports and year-end activities.

Please note that this is a 6-Month Fixed Term Contract.

What you will do:

  • Handle accounting tasks of moderate complexity with some autonomy for decision-making within delegated authority.

  • Identify and escalate inconsistencies or concerns beyond delegated authority to management for resolution.

  • Utilize basic accounting principles and procedures in your daily tasks, ensure everything complies with regulations and industry standards.

  • Participate in the development, testing, and implementation of accounting systems.

  • Understand and contribute to the department's continuous improvement objectives, measure progress, and address any identified issues.

What will put you forward:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting (BCom Accounting) is required.

  • Newly qualified CA(SA) or AGA(SA).

  • 2 to 3 years of post-articles accounting experience.

  • Demonstrated experience in SARS statutory submissions and balance sheet reconciliations.

  • Leading or supporting external and internal audit processes post-articles.

  • Intermediate or advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and the broader MS Office Suite.

  • Experience working with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems.

  • Knowledge of U.S. GAAP would be advantageous.
