This key role of Engineering Project Team Leader is within the Large Power Systems Division Core Packaging group. As an Engineering Project Team Leader, you will lead a team of design control engineers to solve complex technical problems and lead technical discussions related to genset package mechanical systems. This position will lead the planning and delivery of projects for cost, time and quality as well as mentor and coach team members while staying abreast of current/innovative technologies. This individual must develop good network to enable them to obtain resources and remove roadblocks to ensure success of the team as well as act as a spokesperson for the team in meetings with management and customer. This individual will also be responsible to support and manage the team workload along with leading project initiatives while demonstrating product development excellence.
Job Duties:
Provide technical leadership and mentor team members
Lead global team in the design of new products, processes and/or systems
Lead discussions and manage customers requirements and expectations
Resolves complex design issues
Lead robust product development excellence initiatives and maintain standard work procedures
Lead validation discussions and ensure product satisfies life targets
Responsible for delivering robust and validated design on time and cost to meet deliverables
Evaluate and act on shop support requests
Ability to communicate technical information in a succinct and accurate manner
Lead product and supplier strategies with long term vision
Collaborate with cross functional teams
Manage team budget
Qualification/Experience:
Requires Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or relevant field
Strong communication, analytical and problem-solving skills
Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously
Proven ability to lead teams and mentor them
Strong understanding of cooling products, systems and its performance
Demonstrated ability to integrate systems
Supplier/component strategy experience
Strong level of oral, written and interpersonal communication skills
Knowledge of manufacturing methods and production processes used in fabrication, lines, hoses and tubes manufacturing
Exhibited the ability to work independently and have demonstrated ability to apply theory and concept to product design
Top candidates will also have:
Masters degree in an Engineering or relevant field
Structures design experience
Factory support experience
Knowledge of engine or genset systems experience
Experience with Creo or other modeling tools
Knowledge of and experience in APQP, NPI, CPI, and NTI processes is a plus

Requirements Analysis: Extensive knowledge of tools, methods, and techniques of requirement analysis; ability to elicit, analyze and record required business functionality and non-functionality requirements to ensure the success of a system.
Troubleshooting Technical Problems: Extensive knowledge of troubleshooting approaches, tools and techniques; ability to anticipate, detect and resolve technical problems in a manufacturing or product management environment.
Product Design and Development: Extensive knowledge of product features; ability to design, build, and develop a new product, technology, or service from concept through to production.
Summary Pay Range:
$128,470.00 - $192,710.00Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
