Job Title: Senior Operations Manager – Stafford Facility

Salary: £88,251 per annum + dependent upon experience

Location: Stafford, UK

About LPSD

Caterpillar Large Power Systems Division (LPSD) designs and manufactures diesel and spark-ignited engines, ranging from 400 kilowatts to 16 megawatts of power, as well as the key engine systems such as fuel, air, aftertreatment, and cooling which are used to power Oil & Gas, Electric Power, Marine, Rail, Industrial, and CAT Machine applications around the world.

The Opportunity

We are looking for a Senior Leader to be at the forefront of our Stafford Manufacturing Facility. Leading the Operations and Manufacturing teams to success, this role influences cross functions, countries and value streams to deliver a world class product for our customers.

With accountability for processes that execute the assembly, test, paint, engine finish, quality and logistics functions this role is an exciting opportunity to deliver world class manufacturing outputs. This role utilises the Caterpillar Production System (Lean Manufacturing) Principles to deliver People, Quality, Velocity and Cost (PQVC) improvements and results.

Driving progress across the facility as a whole and representing the business in UK forums, this role is an exciting opportunity to bring teams of people together to solve our customers toughest challenges.

Job Summary

Overseeing programs and practices for hiring, performance management and developing/training the personnel that perform and support the plant operating functions to deliver the required operational performance.

  • Directing all aspects of manufacturing operations for the plant or facility in order to produce cost-effective, timely and high quality products in a safe, secure and sanitary working environment.

  • Managing development, implementation and continual improvement of the operating methods, equipment, systems and other operating infrastructure used to realize operating goals and objectives.

  • Directing development of production work schedules to meet internal goals and customer expectations; monitoring process and personnel performance of scheduled work activities to remove operating impediments and achieve established operating goals.

Additional Info

The role will work a 5 day week, based out of the Stafford Facility with periodic travel to our sister facility in Aurangabad, India.

What You Will Do

  • Safety is a core value; this role will lead the way in ensuring our Safety Commitments are met

  • Manage the production processes in line with Caterpillar production principles, establish and maintain appropriate governance to ensure quality and order delivery commitments are met, whilst leading the teams through changes with effective change management strategies.

  • Participation in the facility demand and orders process, capacity planning, execution of manufacturing run rates to required quality and velocity

  • Provide leadership to the Operations teams, with a focus on talent development and growth, taking a proactive and organized approach

  • Foster and grow existing positive relationships with the on site trade unions, including leading collective bargaining processes and paydeals

  • Day to day ownership of the facility, including investments, capital plan, safety, emergency response procedures, CSR, facilities management all role up to this role
