Job Description:

Your Work Shapes the World at Caterpillar Inc.

When you join Caterpillar, you're joining a global team who cares not just about the work we do – but also about each other. We are the makers, problem solvers, and future world builders who are creating stronger, more sustainable communities. We don't just talk about progress and innovation here – we make it happen, with our customers, where we work and live. Together, we are building a better world, so we can all enjoy living in it.

The Site Analytics team within Mining Solutions’ Cat Solutions & Services (CS&S) organization develops end-to-end productivity solutions for quarry and mining customers, transforming operational data into actionable insights that improve site performance, cost per ton, efficiency, and sustainability.

As a Product Consultant - Site Performance & Productivity Optimization, you will connect customer data, equipment, technology, and site operations to business results. Acting as a trusted advisor to customers and internal teams, you will apply data analysis, modeling, simulation, and product application expertise to identify performance opportunities and recommend practical solutions. You will also support go-to-market and sales execution while contributing technical expertise to the continued development of the Site Analytics offering.

What Makes This Role Exciting

This role combines mining operations, technology, and analytics to deliver meaningful customer impact, while giving you the opportunity to influence both site performance and the future of a growing service.

  • Deliver measurable customer impact. Help customers improve production, operating efficiency, and cost per ton by turning complex operational data into actionable recommendations.
  • Work at the leading edge of mining productivity. Apply data, modeling, simulation, and technology to solve real-world challenges across mining and quarry operations.
  • Build global partnerships. Work directly with customers, dealers, technology partners, and Caterpillar teams to solve complex operational challenges.
  • Shape what comes next. Contribute your expertise to new performance models, visualizations, technology integrations, and approaches that expand the value of Site Analytics.

What You Will Do:

  • Optimize customer site performance: Analyze fleet and site data and use modeling and simulation to identify productivity opportunities, define optimization strategies, and provide performance expertise to customers and the fleet management team.
  • Turn analysis into measurable customer value: Conduct product performance studies and assess jobsite efficiency; identify, evaluate, and track the financial impact of performance improvements; and present actionable recommendations to customer leadership.
  • Serve as the product and application expert: Support go-to-market initiatives and sales execution, provide product application expertise at the point of sale, communicate the value of Site Analytics services, and deliver training covering applied technology, job efficiency, safety, and productivity optimization.
  • Build and scale Site Analytics solutions.: Develop data interpretations, performance models, visualizations, industry benchmarks, customer site assessments, and the productivity optimization execution playbook to make complex operating data easier to understand and act upon.
  • Advance the product and technology roadmap: Manage tools and systems supporting the service, collaborate with key stakeholders and technology partners to integrate and improve solutions, and maintain a continuous-improvement backlog that supports business growth.
  • Bring the voice of the customer into product development: Capture product and customer requirements, evaluate customer and industry perspectives on productivity, assess competitive technologies, and provide input to product improvements and New Product Introduction programs.
  • Build strong customer and partner relationships: Translate complex technical analysis into clear recommendations, build trust across customer and dealer organizations, and collaborate across a matrix of commercial, technical, product, and technology stakeholders.

What Skills You Have:

  • Customer Focus: You anticipate customer needs, keep your commitments, and help create the right solutions for their business problems. You track satisfaction and act on what you learn.
  • Technical Excellence: You're the person others come to for technical solutions. You solve hard problems, bring in the right experts, and mentor others to raise the team's technical capability.
  • Value Selling: You qualify opportunities based on real customer needs, show clear value beyond the product itself, and coach others to do the same.
  • Products and Services: You know how our offerings connect across Caterpillar and can explain features, delivery options, and updates clearly.
  • Critical Thinking: You gather and organize the right data, weigh risks and alternatives, and help the team reach sound decisions.
  • Communication: You turn complex analysis into clear presentations and reports, skip the jargon when it isn't needed, and give and take feedback constructively.
  • Relationship Management: You build strong working relationships with customers, technology partners, and peers. You respond quickly, monitor satisfaction, raise issues early, and work through critical problems together.
  • Negotiation: You understand the basics of effective negotiation and build rapport and trust with customers and partners.

Top Candidates Will Also Have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Analytics, or a related discipline, or substantial progressively responsible experience in a closely related field.
  • Demonstrated experience with data analysis, modeling, and simulation, particularly in quarry, aggregates, mining, heavy equipment, or comparable industrial environments.
  • Strong machine product and application knowledge, including an understanding of optimized fleet performance, productivity, and the operational factors affecting cost per ton.
  • Experience with Caterpillar VST, FPSim, or comparable mining fleet performance modeling and simulation tools.
  • Experience building meaningful data visualizations and reporting solutions, including experience with SQL or similar databases and tools such as Microsoft Power BI.
  • Previous field experience in a dealer-facing or customer-facing role, particularly one involving mining, quarry, aggregates, fleet management, heavy equipment, product application, or site productivity.
  • Experience working with external technology providers or vendors to develop, integrate, improve, or deploy customer-facing technology solutions.
  • Working knowledge of statistics and the ability to translate complex datasets into actionable customer recommendations.
  • Project management experience, strong execution discipline, and demonstrated ability to carry initiatives from concept through completion.
  • Demonstrated ability to build trust with external customers while collaborating effectively across a complex, matrixed global organization.
