Job Description:

Your Work Shapes the World at Caterpillar Inc.

When you join Caterpillar, you're joining a global team who cares not just about the work we do – but also about each other. We are the makers, problem solvers, and future world builders who are creating stronger, more sustainable communities. We don't just talk about progress and innovation here – we make it happen, with our customers, where we work and live. Together, we are building a better world, so we can all enjoy living in it.

Job Summary:

Caterpillar is seeking a Product Information Management (PIM) Business Analyst to support our Marketing Content Product Management team and help execute digital initiatives to enable our business goals. In this role, you will play a key part in improving how internal teams and dealers search, manage, and use digital assets across our Product Information Management (PIM) system.

You’ll collaborate closely with business partners, product teams, and engineering to understand user needs, identify pain points, and translate insights into solutions that streamline the asset lifecycle. Success in this role requires exceptional attention to detail, strong communication skills, and the ability to think big picture, while appreciating why the smallest details matter. This position is essential to enabling faster, more consistent, and higher quality content delivery across Caterpillar. The Business Analyst is accountable for requirement quality, data accuracy, and integration integrity across systems. The PIM Business Analyst (BA) partners closely with the Product Owner and engineering teams to ensure high‑quality requirements, accurate data, and reliable integrations across the PIM ecosystem.

As a member of the Digital Marketing Content Product Management Team, the PIM Business Analyst will play a strategic role in Caterpillar’s Content Supply Chain. This critical initiative is focused on driving projects that streamline marketing operations, improve data consistency across platforms, and enhance how we deliver content to our customers.

What You Will Do:

  • Responsible for creating, analyzing and validating business requirements, translating them into detailed functional requirements and user stories, defining acceptance criteria and test cases, and tracking dependencies.
  • Lead the discovery process to capture, analyze, and document detailed business requirements, through interviews, workshops, and process mapping activities.
  • Author user stories for engineering driven initiatives, ensuring technical enhancements are well‑scoped, testable, and aligned to product goals.
  • Partner with Product Owners and technical teams to mature the intake and prioritization process by defining request categories, improving requirements clarity, enabling automated status communication, and reducing ad‑hoc demand through scalable, transparent workflows.
  • Use mockups to visualize workflows, screen layouts, and functional requirements before development.
  • Collaborate with Product, QA, and stakeholders to contribute to change management efforts, including documentation, training materials, and stakeholder enablement for PIM changes.
  • Identify gaps and recommend process improvements to support business objectives and operational efficiency.
  • Facilitate discussions to resolve data‑related questions while surfacing trade‑offs and risks for Product Owner decision‑making.
  • Participate in daily scums, sprint planning meetings, reveals and retrospectives.

What You Will Have:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferably in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 4+ years experience working with digital platforms or enterprise data driven products.
  • 3+ years in digital product management, business analysis, user experience, user research, digital strategy, or related function.
  • Experience with Product Information Management (PIM), commerce platforms, Content Management Systems (CMS), or Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems.
  • Proven experience eliciting, documenting and managing business requirements for features spanning multiple stakeholders and systems.
  • Familiarity with Agile delivery teams and iterative development models.
  • Experience supporting content, marketing, or commerce data use cases.
  • Proven experience working with integrated systems and cross‑functional stakeholders.
  • Experience creating mockups, wireframes, and visual artifacts to support requirements.
  • Experience with documentation and diagramming tools (Visio, Lucidchart, Miro, Figma, etc.).
  • Experience managing projects using product management and/or Agile software tools such as Aha, Azure DevOps, or JIRA.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, with the ability to translate business friendly requirements provided by key stakeholders into structured, technically sound requirements for development teams.
  • Knowledge of UAT activities, tasks, tools and techniques; ability to design, implement and evaluate acceptance tests for end-users.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively across multiple teams and functions.
  • Proven experience supporting large-scale, complex initiatives with interdependent systems and multiple stakeholder groups.

Considerations For Top Candidates:

  • Experience with Workflow Automation and Content Supply Chain tools and processes that support content creation and delivery.
  • Background in digital marketing practices and strategies.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to handle sensitive, emotional, or potentially controversial situations effectively, particularly during periods of change management.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft tools including Excel, Word, Teams, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience working with onshore/offshore team model.
