Job Title: Quality Engineer
Salary: £41,500 - £50,000 depending on skills demonstrated
Location: Desford, Leicestershire
Contract: Full time & permanent
Hours: 37.50
The Opportunity
We are seeking a proactive Quality Engineer to drive quality improvement across manufacturing processes and products. You will lead root cause investigations, enhance quality systems, and ensure compliance with internal standards and customer expectations, while supporting New Product Introduction (NPI) and continuous improvement activities. You will play a key role in analysing defects, improving processes, and embedding robust quality practices across operations.
What You Will Do:
As Quality Engineer, your accountabilities will include, but are not limited to:
Lead root cause analysis of non-conformances using structured problem-solving methodologies (e.g. RCCA, 8D, PDCA, Six Sigma), implementing effective corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) and driving closure of quality issues
Analyse quality performance data to identify trends, support reporting to management, and drive continuous improvement initiatives
Lead timely Emergency, Interim and Permanent corrective actions for both Customer and internal quality events collaborating across disciplines
Support internal audits, ensuring compliance with quality standards and timely closure of actions, while maintaining accurate documentation of quality issues and ongoing activities
Collaborate cross-functionally with operations, manufacturing, engineering, and stakeholders to improve process capability, resolve quality issues, and support daily operational and continuous improvement activities
Drive product quality improvements, support qualification activities, and lead or contribute to investigations, stakeholder reviews, and implementation of new products into production

What You Can Demonstrate:
Level: Basic
Accuracy & Attention to Detail: Delivers precise, error-free work by applying structured checks and ensuring all quality data, documentation, and reporting are accurate, complete, and compliant
Quality Management Systems (QMS): Applies QMS principles to maintain documentation, support audits, and ensure adherence to standards and regulatory requirements, demonstrating awareness of manufacturing environments and consistent, compliant ways of working
Level: Working Knowledge
Problem Solving: Identifies and resolves quality issues using structured problem-solving tools and techniques (e.g. RCCA, FMEA, PDCA, 8D, Six Sigma), determining root causes and implementing effective corrective and preventative actions within a manufacturing environment
Collaborating: Works cross-functionally with manufacturing, engineering, and suppliers to resolve issues, support quality initiatives, and drive aligned outcomes through effective communication, influencing, and teamwork
What You May Have:
Applies structured decision-making and critical thinking to assess risks, interpret technical information such as engineering drawings, and determine appropriate actions within manufacturing and engineering contexts
Demonstrates flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, effectively managing multiple priorities while supporting compliance and continuous improvement
Supports project activities, including NPI and continuous improvement initiatives, by contributing to planning, tracking, reporting, and delivery of quality-related outcomes, using data and analysis to inform decisions
