Role Definition
The Shipping & Receiving Team Lead supports the Section Manager in leading daily warehouse and logistics operations within the Alpharetta, Georgia facility. This role is responsible for coordinating team activities, prioritizing workflow, driving safety, quality, and inventory performance, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives. The Team Lead serves as a key liaison between warehouse employees, logistics partners, production teams, and customers to ensure efficient material flow and on-time delivery.
What You Will Do
- Lead daily team meetings and communicate priorities, workload expectations, and operational updates.
- Coordinate workflow and allocate resources to support shipping, receiving, inventory, and material handling activities.
- Partner with logistics providers and carriers to coordinate expedited shipments and resolve transportation issues.
- Collaborate with internal and external customers to improve logistics processes and customer satisfaction.
- Monitor inventory accuracy, investigate discrepancies, and lead inventory reconciliation efforts.
- Track and report Safety, Quality, Velocity, and Cost (SQVC) performance metrics.
- Lead problem-solving activities and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational performance.
- Investigate customer-reported quality concerns and implement corrective actions.
- Ensure compliance with safety policies, procedures, and warehouse operating standards.
- Support employee development by maintaining training records and coordinating cross-training opportunities.
- Occasionally operate forklifts, reach trucks, overhead cranes, and other material handling equipment.
- Perform shipping, receiving, warehousing, and material handling activities as needed.
What You Will Have
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Access.
- Ability to maintain accurate records and documentation.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Proven ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong commitment to operational excellence.
What Will Put You Ahead
- Previous leadership experience in a warehouse, logistics, distribution, or manufacturing environment.
- Experience leading employee teams and coordinating daily operations.
- Lean Manufacturing, Lean Logistics, or Continuous Improvement experience.
- Experience with inventory management, cycle counting, and material flow optimization.
- Prior experience using ERP, WMS, or warehouse management systems.
- Experience leading root-cause investigations and implementing corrective actions.
Physical Requirements
- Occasionally lift materials up to 35 pounds individually or 70 pounds as a team lift.
- Ability to bend, reach, squat, and perform material handling activities as needed.
- Ability to work in environments with varying temperatures.
- Consistent use of required personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Ability to stand, walk, or sit for extended periods during the workday.
- Forklift, reach truck, and crane operation may be required.

Summary Pay Range:
$22.30 - $29.00Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
