About IPSD:

Caterpillar’s Industrial Power Systems Division (IPSD) designs, tests and manufactures 0.5 to 18L engines that not only power Caterpillar machines, but also power over 5000 other applications including Marine, Petroleum, Industrial Applications, Electric Generators, and Locomotives. Role Definition

We are hiring a Facilities Technician, Maintenance for our Griffin facility. This role maintains facilities and equipment, improves machine performance and uptime, and builds knowledge of Facilities Engineering systems, policies, and procedures. The primary focus is ensuring the reliability of facilities, services, machinery, and assets.

What You Will Do:

• Work independently and collaboratively to maintain facilities and improve manufacturing asset uptime.
• Create and maintain facility layouts, evaluating space requirements, rearrangement needs, and expansion opportunities.
• Design or support the design and installation of new equipment and systems, including material handling, paint, filtration, machines, utilities, and related systems.
• Prepare detailed installation work orders and coordinate equipment receipt and installation schedules with craft personnel.
• Analyze and troubleshoot equipment and system issues, recommend corrective design or layout changes, and obtain the parts and documentation needed for repairs.
• Partner with manufacturing personnel to address tooling, process, and quality issues.
• Develop and implement predictive and preventive maintenance programs, including scheduled maintenance for hydraulic and lubrication systems.
• Evaluate equipment during run-offs and update technical libraries to maintain machine support data.
• Build ongoing knowledge of systems integration and other Facilities Engineering concepts and processes.
• Follow established standards, policies, and practices related to quality, cost reduction, safety, hazardous materials, and ergonomics.

Technical Troubleshooting: Knowledge of technical troubleshooting approaches, tools, and techniques; ability to anticipate, recognize, and resolve technical issues on hardware, software, application, or operation.

Level Basic Understanding:

• Describes problem identification, reporting and escalation procedures.
• Explains the underlying concept of using a systematic approach to solve technical problems.
• Identifies available resources and support systems for troubleshooting.
• Describes common hardware, software, and communication problems; finds ways to resolve issues.

Total Productive Maintenance (TPM): Knowledge of total productive maintenance principles, methods, and processes; ability to maximize machinery effectiveness through active involvement of all supporting departments.

Level Basic Understanding:

• Describes the maintenance indicators associated with Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE).
• Explains the history, concept, and objectives of TPM.
• Identifies the pillars of Total Productive Maintenance (TPM).
• Outlines the similarities and differences between Total Quality Management (TQM) and Total Productive Maintenance (TPM).

What Sets You Apart:

• Experience working with PLC logic
• Experience maintaining factory equipment or HVAC systems
• Experience performing basic electrical work

Additional Information:

• This is 1st shift position with overtime as needed. The hours are 7AM – 4PM.
• Travel is up to 10%.
• Relocation is not available.
