Our Product Support and Logistics Division (PSLD) is one of the most innovative divisions within Caterpillar. In PSLD, as within all of Caterpillar, our priority is our customers and helping them build a better world. We touch nearly every element of the services value stream. PSLD is responsible for Aftermarket Parts Distribution of Cat Parts, Integrated Logistics and Global Services supporting Caterpillar dealers and customers. Our teams work together in critical areas that leverage digital capabilities, technology and operational excellence.

As a Facilities Engineer, you will be responsible for supporting facility operations through contractor management, facility maintenance coordination, and project oversight. You will partner with internal stakeholders and external service providers to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable facility performance, while managing contracts, safety compliance activities, fuel procurement, and maintenance inventory to support ongoing site operations.


Additional Information:

  • This role is located in Morton, IL and does not offer relocation.
  • This role is 1st shift, Monday – Friday.
  • This role is 100% on-site with no opportunity for hybrid or remote schedules
  • This role requires up to 5% domestic travel

What You Will Do:

  • Manage contractor relationships and oversee all aspects of the contract administration process.

  • Coordinate with purchasing and procurement teams to support contractor engagements and service agreements.

  • Supervise and support onsite contractors, including facilities, maintenance, landscaping, vehicle repair, and heavy equipment service providers.

  • Develop, maintain, and monitor contractor safety plans and ensure compliance with site safety requirements.

  • Conduct contractor inspections and track performance against project and service deliverables.

  • Coordinate the procurement and inventory of fuels, including propane, gasoline, and diesel, for facility and vehicle operations.

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for contractors performing building, facilities, or maintenance-related work.

  • Manage maintenance and repair parts inventory, ensuring critical materials are available to support operations.

  • Oversee storeroom/crib operations, including inventory tracking, replenishment, and organization of repair parts and supplies.

  • Develop and support facility asset management strategies to optimize equipment reliability, performance, and lifecycle costs.

  • Lead asset lifecycle planning activities, including maintenance, replacement, and capital improvement recommendations.

  • Utilize and maintain Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) data to support maintenance planning, asset management, and work order processes.

  • Drive continuous improvement of maintenance workflows, preventive maintenance programs, and asset management practices.

  • Conduct facility condition assessments to identify infrastructure risks, prioritize maintenance needs, and support long-term planning.

  • Analyze facility and equipment performance data to inform maintenance, replacement, and investment decisions.

  • Lead or support capital equipment procurement activities, including specification development, vendor coordination, bid evaluation, and implementation.

  • Manage facility and capital improvement projects from planning through execution, ensuring alignment with budget, schedule, and operational requirements.

  • Develop cost estimates and business cases to support facility investments and capital project planning.

  • Collaborate with operations, maintenance, and site leadership teams to identify and prioritize facility improvement opportunities.


What You Have (Basic Requirements):

  • Accuracy and Attention to Detail: Understanding the necessity and value of accuracy; ability to complete tasks with high levels of precision.

  • Effective Communications: Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors.

  • Plant Facilities Management: Knowledge of processes, methodologies and techniques used to manage plant facilities; ability to handle the full spectrum of activities for managing and maintaining physical facilities and infrastructure.

  • Problem Solving: Knowledge of approaches, tools, techniques for recognizing, anticipating, and resolving organizational, operational or process problems; ability to apply knowledge of problem solving appropriately to diverse situations.

  • Project Management: Knowledge of effective project management strategies and tactics; ability to plan, organize, monitor, and control projects, ensuring efficient utilization of technical and administrative resources to achieve project objectives.

What Will Set You Apart (Top Candidates Will Have):

  • Experience managing contractors in manufacturing, maintenance operations, construction, or facilities environments.
  • Knowledge of facility operations, building maintenance, and infrastructure management.
  • Understanding of contract administration, invoice processing, project closeout activities, and vendor management.
  • Familiarity with building systems and facility operations, including preventive maintenance practices.
  • Experience working with HVAC systems and coordinating facility-related repairs and services.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills with the ability to communicate effectively with plant leadership, operations teams, and senior business leaders.
  • Proven ability to coordinate multiple contractors, projects, and priorities while ensuring safety, compliance, and operational excellence.

Summary Pay Range:

$97,530.00 - $146,290.00

Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
