The Accounting Manager is responsible for material variance analysis and forecasting for Power & Energy Procurement. It directly supports and regularly interfaces with the Vice President of Procurement and their team.
What You Will Do:
- Prepare reports which summarize material variance impacts. Provide insightful analysis and commentary to business partners across the organization.
- Lead the material variance forecasting process by coordinating with buyers and other financial professionals.
- Provide insights to assist in mitigating the impact of tariffs.
- Ensure the policies and practices of the organization are followed; work closely with buyers, procurement directors and other financial professionals ensuring that practices are in line with the overall goals of the organization.
- Analyze and solve accounting problems. Clearly and effectively communicate resolutions to stakeholders.
What You Will Have:
- Planning: Tactical, Strategic: Knowledge of effective planning techniques and ability to contribute to operational (short term), tactical (1-2 years) and strategic (3-5 years) planning in support of the overall business plan.
- Analytical Thinking: Knowledge of techniques and tools that promote effective analysis; ability to determine the root cause of organizational problems and create alternative solutions that resolve these problems.
- Effective Communications: Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors.
- Judgment and Decision Making: Knowledge of the decision-making process; ability to carefully evaluate the impact of emerging business situations and choose the best path forward communicating actions and activities that maximize organizational performance.
- Accounting: Knowledge of accounting methods, processes, and tools; ability to maintain and prepare reports using accounting methods and processes.
- Financial Analysis: Knowledge of tools and approaches of financial analysis; ability to read, interpret and draw accurate conclusions from financial and numerical material.
- Financial Reporting: Knowledge of processes, methods, and tools of financial reporting; ability to create and maintain accurate and thorough financial reports.
Top Candidates Will Have:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business, or a related discipline.
- Progressive experience in corporate accounting, financial reporting, controllership, plant accounting, cost accounting, or manufacturing finance.
- Experience with monthly, quarterly, or annual financial close activities.
- Familiarity with enterprise accounting systems, financial reporting platforms, and advanced spreadsheet analysis.
- Experience improving accounting processes, standardizing controls, or automating financial reports.
- CPA, CMA, or another relevant accounting or finance credential.

Summary Pay Range:
$128,470.00 - $192,710.00Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
