Job summary:
Join Caterpillar’s IT Enterprise Data Platforms team and play a key role in delivering world-class Oracle database services across a global enterprise. As a Oracle DBA, you will provide technical leadership, drive database innovation, and ensure high availability, security, and performance of mission-critical systems. This role combines hands-on database expertise with enterprise-level thinking, supporting strategic initiatives such as modernization, automation, and cloud adoption. You will collaborate with global teams, work with best practices, and lead complex database projects while supporting internal customers. This is an opportunity to work in a high-impact role within a distributed, innovation-driven environment. Key responsibilities:
Provide technical leadership across the full database lifecycle, ensuring performance, availability, compliance, and governance standards;
Act as a subject matter expert (SME) for Oracle database technologies across the enterprise;
Deliver advanced (L3/L4) support for complex database issues and ensure high availability through RAC, Data Guard, and recovery strategies;
Execute database patching, upgrades, and lifecycle management, including automation and performance troubleshooting;
Drive continuous improvement by researching new technologies and enhancing processes, customer experience, and compliance;
Lead and support database projects, audits, and cross-functional collaboration with global teams;
Maintain technical documentation and communicate updates, risks, and improvements effectively;
Mentor and develop team members while promoting knowledge sharing and best practices.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering;
Pre-advanced English;
Proven experience supporting distributed/global team;
Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills;
Strong expertise in:
Oracle Database Administration (11g–19c+)
Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM)
Database Lifecycle Management (DBLM)
Oracle RAC, Data Guard, Multitenant architecture
SQL and performance tuning
If you have strong experience in another database it's valid too.
Experience with:
Scripting (Shell, Perl, EMCLI)
Linux/Unix environments (RedHat, AIX)
Oracle Fleet Patching & Provisioning tools
Oracle patching (RU) and upgrades (manual and automated).
Top Candidates Will Also Have:
Experience with cloud platforms (Oracle Cloud, AWS, Azure);
Exposure to automation tools (Ansible, scripting – Shell/Python);
Knowledge of middleware and enterprise integrations;
Familiarity with DevOps practices;
Experience supporting large-scale enterprise systems.
Note: This position requires the candidate to work onsite five days a week.
