Job Summary:
The Global Retail Electric Power (REPS) Market Development Manager is responsible for defining and executing the long-term growth strategy for Caterpillar's global retail electric power business. This leader will build a high-performing team that delivers customer-backed market insights, commercial strategies, product roadmaps, and business processes that enable profitable growth.
The role serves as the bridge between customers, dealers, sales regions, product groups, and executive leadership to ensure market opportunities are translated into actionable strategies, prioritized investments, and differentiated solutions. Success requires balancing strategic thinking with disciplined execution while developing an engaged, growth-minded team focused on delivering measurable business outcomes.
What you will do:
Lead Customer-Back Commercial Strategy
Shift organizational focus from internal product discussions to customer outcomes, market opportunities, and competitive positioning.
Translate customer insights, unmet needs, and market trends into actionable growth strategies.
Drive development of customer segmentation, market opportunity assessments, and growth plans by region and segment.
Partner with sales leadership and dealers to identify growth opportunities and expand market share.
Shape Long-Term Product and Market Roadmaps
Lead development of global retail electric power market strategies through 2030 and beyond.
Define customer-backed growth opportunities across gas, diesel, hybrid, and emerging power solutions.
Partner with product groups to influence Tier 4 and future product roadmaps.
Prioritize investments based on market attractiveness, customer demand, profitability, and strategic fit.
Provide strategic recommendations to executive leadership regarding market expansion opportunities, portfolio priorities, and competitive positioning.
Improve Strategic Planning and Governance Processes
Own and continuously improve key commercial and product strategy processes including PACT development, one-page business cases, product prioritization, market opportunity assessments, and annual planning cycles.
Establish best practices that improve decision quality, customer focus, and cross-functional alignment.
Ensure governance processes support timely and informed investment decisions
Build and Develop a High-Performing Team
Recruit, coach, and develop a diverse team of commercial and product professionals.
Create a culture centered on accountability, continuous learning, customer focus, and growth mindset.
Develop future leaders through coaching, mentoring, talent planning, and development opportunities.
Drive employee engagement and foster an environment where innovation, collaboration, and ownership thrive.
Drive Proactive Annual Business Execution
Develop and manage an annual REPS strategic planning and deliverables calendar.
Create visibility to key milestones, decisions, reviews, and executive deliverables.
Establish disciplined operating rhythms that reduce reactive work and improve execution predictability.
Monitor progress and hold teams accountable for commitments and outcomes.

• Develops, refines, and communicates tactical plans for own responsibilities.
• Provides the right level of detail as input for strategic plan development.
• Demonstrates the value and necessity of linking tactical plans to overall strategic plan.
• Ensures attention to the detail and dependencies of existing departmental-level plans.
• Plans for allocation of resources in line with unit goals, technical and business objectives.
• Ensures the planning process is integrated with the overall business plan.
Products and Services: Knowledge of major products and services and product and service groups; ability to apply knowledge of product and service appropriately to diverse situations.

• Advises colleagues on implementation and operational considerations.

Top Candidates Will Also Have:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited university.
Minimum 10 years of product management, commercial, strategy, marketing, or sales leadership experience.
Minimum 3 years of people leadership experience.
Demonstrated success developing business strategies and turning them into measurable business results.
Experience influencing cross-functional teams and senior leadership.
Electric Power, industrial equipment, energy, or related industry experience.
Strong understanding of generator set applications, distributed energy, gas power solutions, and customer buying behaviors.
Experience working with dealer channels, distributors, or global sales organizations.
Proven experience leading market strategy, product strategy, or commercial transformation initiatives.
Ability to synthesize market, customer, competitive, and financial information into clear strategic recommendations.
Experience developing and communicating executive-level business cases and investment proposals.
Additional Information:
This position is located in Irving, TX; Peoria, IL; Griffin, GA; Houston, TX; or Seguin, TX.
Travel up to 25% is required.

Summary Pay Range:
$159,120.00 - $238,680.00Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
