Caterpillar is seeking a highly motivated compliance attorney to join Caterpillar’s Compliance Legal Team. The position will provide leadership and support for Caterpillar’s anti-bribery/anti-corruption compliance program and provide support for other compliance topics and initiatives, interfacing directly with business and compliance leaders throughout the company to provide compliance advice. What You Will Do:

  • Provide leadership and support for all aspects of Caterpillar’s anti-corruption program
  • Advise independently on a wide variety of compliance-related issues, primarily focused on anti-corruption/FCPA law; help manage more complex tactical legal issues and provide advice and be accountable to assess legal risk, identifying and contributing to resolution of technical legal issues with a broad range of risk exposure
  • Carefully evaluate unique legal problems and issues and make recommendations to higher leadership on the best course of action
  • Engage cross-functional teams to develop and implement long-term compliance strategies
  • Provide cross-functional support in other compliance areas
  • Review and advise business partners on pending and developing regulations

  • Resource Management: Ability to manage multiple projects with minimal supervision
  • Decision Making and Critical Thinking: Effective in managing complexity and dealing with ambiguity to arrive at pragmatic solutions
  • Legal Analysis: Intellectual curiosity and interest in learning the business and further developing business acumen

Top Candidates Will Also Have:

  • Prior in-house experience
  • Preference will also be given to those with prior experience working with complex supply chain and distribution structures
  • Flexibility and eagerness to work on broad range of legal matters, including U.S. and global matters
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with an absolute commitment to professionalism and collegiality
  • Strong presentation skills with a calm, confident, practical and solutions-oriented approach

Degree and Experience Required:

  • J.D. degree (or foreign equivalent) and membership in at least one U.S. state bar
  • 3+ years of relevant legal experience working on anti-corruption/FCPA and other compliance matters – must have significant experience with anti-corruption/FCPA issues during this time
  • Experience developing practical approaches to legal challenges and providing legal advice
  • Demonstrated ability to interact effectively with senior level managers as well as other lawyers, both in-house and outside counsel

Additional Info :

  • Location: The position will ideally be located in Irving, TX or Peoria, IL
  • Relocation assistance is available for those who qualify
  • International and Domestic travel up to 10%

Summary Pay Range:

$133,680.00 - $200,520.00

Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
