Job Title: Fuel Systems Senior Engineer

Salary: £57,737 per annum + dependent upon experience

Location: Peterborough, UK

Job Summary

An exciting opportunity exists within the Component Engineering department to lead the design and development of high-pressure common rail fuel systems on the next generation of engine platforms. As part of a small, friendly team, you will collaborate with a global team of engineers, suppliers and production facilities, shaping solutions from concept to production that achieve world-class levels of performance, quality and reliability

What You Will Do

• Lead the specification and development of new high-pressure common rail fuel systems to meet New Product Introduction (NPI) Requirements.
• Collaborate with fuel system technology suppliers to align on functional performance requirements and to develop system solutions.
• Plan and deliver fuel system/component development projects to time, cost and quality requirements.
• Assess technical risk through FMEA; define and coordinate simulation and validation activities (DVP&R).
• Investigate and resolve complex technical system issues using 8D methodology.
• Lead cross-functional design reviews with manufacturing, quality and purchasing teams to deliver a production worthy fuel system design.
• Assess fuel system performance via engine and / or rig bench testing.

What You Have

Technical Excellence: Knowledge of High-Pressure Common Rail Diesel Fuel Injection Systems and associated components; ability to develop and provide solutions to significant technical challenges.

Effective Communications: Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors.

• Adapts documents and presentations for the intended audience.
• Demonstrates both empathy and assertiveness when communicating a need or defending a position.

Project Management: Knowledge of effective project management strategies and tactics; ability to plan, organize, monitor, and control projects, ensuring efficient utilization of technical and administrative resources to achieve project objectives.

• Identifies risks and vulnerabilities; creates contingency plans.
• Conducts regular and ad-hoc project reviews with project team, sponsors, and customers.
• Maintains open communication among project participants and interested parties

Accuracy and Attention to Detail: Understanding the necessity and value of accuracy; ability to complete tasks with high levels of precision.

• Evaluates and makes contributions to best practices.
• Processes large quantities of detailed information with high levels of accuracy.
