Role definition:

Coordinates and supports the implementation of environmental programs, compliance activities, and management systems to ensure adherence to regulatory requirements, company policies, and sustainability objectives.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct environmental inspections and monitoring activities to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, permits, and company standards.

  • Maintain environmental records, permits, reports, and compliance documentation.

  • Support environmental programs related to waste management, wastewater, stormwater, air emissions, and sustainability initiatives.

  • Assist in the development and implementation of environmental policies, procedures, and employee training programs.

  • Participate in environmental incident investigations and corrective action implementation.

  • Support environmental audits and compliance assessments, ensuring timely closure of identified findings.

  • Identify environmental risks and opportunities for continuous improvement while supporting ISO 14001 and other environmental management system requirements.

Degree Requirement: Bachelor’s degree in environmental engineering, Environmental Sciences, Chemical Engineering, or a related discipline.

Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Policy Compliance

  • Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local environmental regulations, permits, and company EHS requirements.

  • Conducts routine environmental inspections and audits to identify compliance risks and implement corrective actions.

  • Maintains environmental records, reports, and documentation in accordance with regulatory and company requirements.

  • Supports the implementation and continuous improvement of environmental management systems and sustainability initiatives.

Problem Solving

  • Identifies environmental compliance gaps, operational risks, and root causes of incidents or non-conformances.

  • Develops and implements effective corrective and preventive actions to minimize environmental impacts.

  • Evaluates environmental data and operational practices to drive continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Supports environmental incident investigations and ensures timely resolution of identified issues.

Effective Communications

  • Communicates environmental requirements, expectations, and performance metrics to employees, supervisors, and site leadership.

  • Delivers environmental training and awareness programs to promote compliance and environmental stewardship.

  • Acts as a liaison between operations, maintenance, EHS teams, and regulatory agencies when required.

  • Prepares clear and accurate environmental reports, presentations, and compliance documentation.

Managing Multiple Priorities

  • Coordinates multiple environmental programs, permits, projects, inspections, and reporting deadlines simultaneously.

  • Prioritizes environmental compliance activities based on regulatory obligations and business needs.

  • Tracks action items and follow up with stakeholders to ensure timely completion of environmental commitments.

  • Supports cross-functional projects while maintaining compliance with environmental requirements.

Initiative

  • Proactively identifies environmental risks and opportunities for improvement before they result in incidents or compliance issues.

  • Drives environmental awareness and engagement initiatives throughout the facility.

  • Recommends and implements process improvements to enhance environmental performance and sustainability.

  • Takes ownership of environmental objectives and follows through to achieve measurable results.

Top Candidates Will Also Have:

  • Master's degree in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Management, Sustainability, or a related field.

  • Professional certification as an ISO 14001 Internal Auditor or Lead Auditor.

  • Professional certification in Environmental Management Systems (EMS).

  • Experience supporting regulatory compliance with SEMARNAT, CONAGUA, and applicable Mexican environmental regulations.

  • Experience with environmental permitting, hazardous waste management, wastewater compliance, air emissions, and sustainability programs.

  • Knowledge of ISO 14001, environmental risk assessment, and environmental auditing processes.

  • certifications considered a plus.

  • Experience in manufacturing, automotive, or industrial environments

Additional Information

  • This position is located in Santa Catarina, Nuevo León, Mexico.

  • Work Schedule: Monday through Saturday.

  • Relocation assistance is not available for this position.
