About the Role:

The Growth Strategy Manager for Caterpillar Marine leads end-to-end strategy development and deployment for the Marine Industry Business Unit, with a primary focus on accelerating profitable aftermarket services growth. The role also supports the annual strategy refresh cadence across key Marine industry segments and portfolios (high-speed engines and integrated power systems, and large power systems services) and drives cross-functional alignment from insight generation through execution governance.

In addition, the position leads targeted industry and competitive analysis especially for digitally enabled marine solutions and manages a team responsible for knowledge and information platforms that enable the business unit and dealer network.

What You Will Do:

  • Strategy development & deployment (with a strong aftermarket growth focus): Lead the development, refinement, and deployment of Marine business unit strategy with a strong emphasis on aftermarket services growth; translate strategic choices into clear initiatives, milestones, KPIs, and governance—delivering results with excellence and a clear enterprise point of view.
  • Annual strategy refresh & facilitation: Facilitate and annually refresh the corporate growth strategy for the Marine Industry Business Unit, including prime (OE) and aftermarket strategies for high-speed engines, and integrated power systems; additionally, lead the facilitation of the aftermarket services growth strategy for large power systems. Drive a structured process to gather inputs, build fact bases, develop options, facilitate decision forums, and publish updated strategy documents aligned with stakeholders operating with Integrity and transparency.
  • Cross-functional collaboration & stakeholder alignment: Partner across all Marine functions (e.g., commercial sales, product & solutions, operations, business resources) and with additional process partners within COGMD to ensure a single aligned strategy narrative and executable portfolio of initiatives—modeling teamwork, inclusive engagement, and respect for diverse perspectives.
  • Industry analysis & digitally enabled solutions strategy: Conduct marine industry and competitor analysis for digitally supported solutions. Define industry-specific requirements for Caterpillar enterprise tools and apply a customer-back perspective on current and future customer needs; identify what enterprise capabilities already exist that can be leveraged to develop marine-specific digital solutions—while remaining cyber safe and protecting customer and Caterpillar information.
  • Knowledge & information management: Lead and coach a sub-team of two to maintain, improve, and expand knowledge and information platforms/channels that deploy marine strategy, commercial intelligence, and technical information. Ensure content supports capability building for internal teams and dealer employees, promoting continuous improvement and operational discipline.
  • People leadership & team development: Lead a team of ~5 by setting priorities, building skills, coaching, and ensuring high-quality deliverables; create an inclusive environment where people feel safe to speak up, learn, and grow commitment to developing others.
  • Win the Right Way (ethics, compliance & safety): Lead complex analyses, scenario development, business case creation, and recommendation development; develop and deliver leadership-ready presentations; coordinate with internal/external partners as needed. Always put safety first, comply with laws, regulations and reporting requirements, protect confidential information, and raise concerns when something doesn’t look right.

Required Skills:

  • Experience and strong working knowledge of aftermarket services business models (e.g., parts, service agreements, lifecycle value, dealer/service networks), ideally within power & energy or comparable industrial industries.
  • Proven strategy development and deployment experience, translating insights into clear choices, initiatives, KPIs, and governance.
  • Strong commercial and financial acumen; ability to build fact bases, scenarios, and business cases for senior leadership decision-making.
  • Customer-back mindset and market/competitive analysis skills (including digital solutions) to identify opportunities in marine OEM and aftermarket services.
  • Exceptional stakeholder management and facilitation across functions and geographies and drives alignment through teamwork and an enterprise perspective.
  • Clear, concise executive communication (written and verbal); creates leadership-ready narratives and presentations.
  • People leadership and coaching capability; develops talent, sets priorities, and fosters an inclusive environment where it is safe to speak up.
  • Demonstrated commitment to "Win the Right Way": puts safety first, acts with integrity, protects confidential information, and complies with policies and legal requirements.

  • Stakeholder Management: Knowledge of stakeholder management techniques; ability to systematically identify stakeholders, analyze their needs and expectations, and implement various tasks to engage with them.

Summary Pay Range:

$159,120.00 - $238,680.00

Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
