Caterpillar Inc. seeks Engineer – Test & Validation at its facility located at 28194 Caterpillar Lane, Washington, IL 61571. This position networks closely with Caterpillar Trimble Control Technologies (CTCT) internal product/project teams, as well as Caterpillar and Trimble product teams, to provide high-quality products to the earthmoving, paving, and mining industries. Accountable for creating and executing test plans regarding internal verification and validation. Responsible for testing software/hardware fixes, finding bugs and issues, documentation, data collection setups, machine updates, troubleshooting, and machine operation. Daily on machine test and validation activities supporting grade control setups. Assist with developing and refining verification & validation processes for both internal and external teams. Mentoring and training activities within work group. Management of Trimble, Caterpillar and Caterpillar Trimble Control Technologies (CTCT) databases used in tracking product issues. REQS: This position requires a Bachelor’s degree, or foreign equivalent, in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or a related field plus 3 years of experience in a validation engineering role or related occupation. In the alternative, the employer will accept a Master degree, or foreign equivalent, in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or a related field plus 2 years of experience in a validation engineering role or related occupation. Additionally, the applicant must have employment experience with: (1) Conducting software validation/verification for electronic systems using analysis, simulation, and full-scale testing on HIL/SIL systems; (2) Embedded software development and MATLAB Simulink for data analysis and modeling; (3) Interpreting industry-standard drawings such as: electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and P&IDs; (4) Developing, executing, and troubleshooting test instructions and software simulations for control system applications, both on a bench and Machine Environment; (5) Integrating test instrumentation and computerized data acquisition systems into test activities; and (6) Maintaining test cell equipment (e.g., Dspacecontrol desk) for HIL testing and performing inspections with root cause analysis for CPI. 10% of domestic travel is required to visit other Caterpillar worksites.

Summary Pay Range:

$95,640.00 - $143,520.00

Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
