This role requires strong coordination skills, matrix management, and the ability to influence others. Candidates ideally have experience with autonomy and have worked at a Command for Hauling site. You will collaborate closely with the customer’s operational leaders and establish high-level relationships with business decision-makers and subject matter experts. This position also involves consulting with dealer and customer operations and maintenance managers, as well as executive management, to advise on best practices for using Command for Hauling.

What you will do:

  • Oversee and optimize operations at mine sites, ensuring efficient and safe practices that maximize productivity and minimize downtime.

  • Lead a team acting as the first layer of product support for any technology-related issues at the site.

  • Ensure ongoing training and upskilling of the control room and field operators.

  • Influence various Caterpillar divisions to develop the correct new products and services to meet the mine’s current and future needs.

  • Manage key site performance metrics including technology availability, production metrics, operating cost per ton, uptime, AHS fleet utilization, safety, etc.

  • Responsible for contributing to Caterpillar’s “Zero Harm” safety metrics as well as site-specific safety. Serves as the Responsible Person for all on-site Caterpillar personnel and ensures the safety of the overall AHS system.

What Skills you will have:

Technical Excellence: Extensive Autonomous Mine Operations and Mining Technology and Machine Experience. Broad company knowledge and a strong understanding of dealer operations, and Autonomous Operations are necessary to succeed in this role.

Field Support: Previous field rep, mine operations, or Autonomous Run Team experience. Strong knowledge of Caterpillar Technology products and product application, validation, product problem management, and/or mining operations is also required.

Effective Communications: Excellent interpersonal skills are required in order to deal with sensitive issues, develop team members as well as customer personnel, or persuade others inside and outside the business unit and Caterpillar to take specific actions.

Service Excellence: The role requires a high degree of customer satisfaction.   The successful candidate must be organized, able to prioritize tasks and follow through on customer-required items.  Ability to work and set priorities for self and for the work team without day-to-day direct supervision.  The position often confronts complex issues or problems which require careful analysis and diagnosis.

Top Candidates will also have:

College or university degree or equivalent experience. Mining and mechanical engineering degrees are higly desired

5 - 10 years of progressively responsible job-related experience.

Additional Information:

The position is a mine site-based position where the successful candidate will be at customer premises Monday – Thursday roster, every week each month. This could include corporate offices in Calgary, or at the mine site near Fort McMurray. Base (hiring) location will be Calgary, Alberta. Successful candidate will be flying in and out of the mine at the beginning and end of the shift, and staying in at the mine with temporary facilities while on shift, unless attending corporate offices in Calgary.

Reporting to this position are a team of 6 application specialists and 1 project lead.  The team of application specialists rotate to site on a 14 days on, 14 days off (FIFO) roster.  This covers day shift and night shift for 24 hour coverage supporting the mine site.
